Hi there
I am new to the forum and found you when I was searching for LOTR TCG. I used to play the game a few years ago and had to stop for financial reasons. I have read all the posts about getting the game moving forward and would be interested in helping - not sure how much help I can be.
Like I said I am new to the forum can you tell me where most of you are based. I live in the UK.
Cheers
Max

Please post in here if you would like to help the PC
Hey you people you picked up were i left it in july. Back then I was upset about the little response I received back so I parked it to attend to it later. But also my health was going downwards, so I had other things to attend to. So good job that you picked things up.
At this moment I don't want to get involved, because there are more pressing matters for me to attend to. But what I do like to do for you people is to organize a nice tournament in Amsterdam. So if you like that then just let me know. I'll promise you to attend to it once per week.
Regards,
Jw

I will help in anyway I can

Hi max1981 - I am sure some people posting on these boards are based in the UK. If you want to help, we are aiming to generate some interest amongst the community - we want new players, returning players and experienced players to visit this site and hopefully take an interest in what we are attempting to do. Spread the word!
I live in Australia and am lucky to have a small group of friends that play LOTR from time to time. There is a decent card playing community in my area and when I get time I may be able to get a larger playing group happening.
-
Hey Max
We have a couple of players from the UK, myself, Thranduil, Anvar and lem0nhead to name a few.
-
Except that Anvar is no longer in the UK... But I'm still here, and eager!
Thranduil
-
Hey TheJord and Thranduil where are you guys based? Is anyone still playing in your areas? I live in Birmingham but I don't know anyone in this area that still plays. I am in touch with one person who used to play.
Cheers
Max

I'm in North Wales
Thran, where has Anvar gone!?
-
I'm based in Manchester/London. Anvar's moved to Israel for a year, then probably New York, so he ain't going to be playing any LotR for a while! There's no LotR community that I know of in Manchester, but there used to be a very small one in London. In fact, one time there was a tournament and the only people that turned up was the organiser, me and Anvar! But I don't know whether they're still going - they used to play mainly Star Trek anyway.
I do have some friends that, while they never really collected, wouldn't mind playing!

I don't know how I can help, but I willing to if I can.

I spoke with Scott Lingrell at the SW PC as well as Mark who is the current Marketing Advocate for them. They are closely working with Decipher and Warren Holland right now.
Here are some things we need to do:
Having a message board is fine for right now, but we also need sort of a behind the scenes board where those only interested in helping can see, so that we can talk privately.
We shouldn't launch a website or really go forward with anything else before Decipher gives the heads up.
The SW PC is working on their charter to present to Decipher and become a full fledged Non-Profit. We need to work on our charter and hopefully be approved by Warren Holland and Decipher.
After getting approved we can get our Website set up as well as a Non-Profit status. The non-profit status means that anything the Decipher helps us with, can be considered a tax write off for them, which only encourages them to help us some. It also means that companies like Microsoft can have an employee encourage their company to donate money to this non-profit and have it help out the organization.
We should look more at the way that the 501st work with Lucas, where they are able to sell new product that doesn't hurt copyright or the brand, while anything made either goes to help another charity or help our own non-profit organization grow.
I will talk to Neal a little more about getting info from all the former LOTR group members on Decktech.net.
I say our first goal is getting that Charter looking nice and seeing how the SW PC is doing on there's and helping each other out.
I hope that this is helpful for everyone and please contact me with anything else I can help with. I'll see what other info I can glean here and there.
Scott

We need to work on our charter and hopefully be approved by Warren Holland and Decipher.
What's a charter?
-
google search - Define: Charter
* rent: hold under a lease or rental agreement; of goods and services
* grant a charter to
* a document incorporating an institution and specifying its rights; includes the articles of incorporation and the certificate of incorporation
* lease: engage for service under a term of contract; "We took an apartment on a quiet street"; "Let's rent a car"; "Shall we take a guide in Rome?"
* a contract to hire or lease transportation
-
I'm ready to help, and here's how:
1. support a local scene here in Utah.
2. support a web site that allows for a player/tourney database (I have /some/ scripting skills I might be able to donate if no one steps up)
3. support the community on the forums
4. support the PC directly with input on rules, cards, block formats, etc. I personally think I know all the rules well enough to answer virtually any question, and that makes me /want/ to be around to help watch over things ;)
-
* a document incorporating an institution and specifying its rights; includes the articles of incorporation and the certificate of incorporation
* lease: engage for service under a term of contract; "We plan on running this game that you company made as the PC for LOTR that will look to run large events, encourage players to play and make V cards for the game and help it become a healthy game."
This is our way of setting up a contract with Decipher so legally they can't sue us for doing things here in the PC with their cards and their designs. It gives us protection as well as the ability to do what we want to do with the game with approval from the company that originally made it.
So for the SW PC they are putting down all of their intentions and what they would like to do while they are the PC to help the game grow, and what their vision of the game is.
We have to put together a statement/Charter for Decipher that lays everything out, what we plan to do to get where we want to be, and what we do once we are there.

I very new to these forums but I am up for helping.
I had been working on contacting members from the Michigan region when I stumbled on this site.
Count me in for any help you could use in Michigan, also if anyone had Michigan contacts it would be awesome.
Thanks

Scott, you're a maniac with that legalese. You should run with that ball, dude.
-
Like I said, I'm willing to help. I worked with the Star Wars PC for a while designing virtual cards etc and am willing to do it again. Keep me posted.

I am willing to help, if I can.
I have some nice Design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) but mainly I use 3D Studio Max. If i can help somehow, just mail me.

"I will take the ring to Mordor, though I do not know the way"
Translation: I'm in, but I'm not sure how I can be useful.
Hmm, maybe this would have been a better quote:
"Anyway, you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission... quest... thing"
-
Did it just loose steam/fail to launch, or did Decipher/New Line/JRRT's estate say no?
-
Failure to launch. Lots of talk, little real action.
-
We have this site and GCCG is kept up by this site as well. It is probably the closest to the PC that we can get. Let's appreciate the site and help out in whatever way we can.
-
I think Kenny says it how it is. Just be thankful that we have this site and GCCG. It's the best things are going to get.

Any update or change about getting a charter for a PC for LotR? I would certainly put some serious cash / playtesting / etc into this. Still have many people who played in my area
