I'm going to do it. I going to start the WDT (What was Decipher Thinking) format. This format will include the use of sets 11-19 only. As for an X-list, I'd rather not have one, but some work has already been done on the topic and their are a few cards that people don't want to see in LOTR TCG, so I'll look over the X-List for Standard and post something later. Until the format is sanctioned by the house, I'll make my postings here in the casual area and denote WDT decks with the a deck name and "WDT" (I.E. 3 hunters-WDT) that way no tells me to stick Aragorn's Bow (1R90) in the deck. If you want to participate in my apostacy, please post your WDT decks here in casual as indicated above with the awesome format name provided by one of our own. Thanks. I'm short on time now, so I will post a deck later, but I wanted to share my idea with everyone. Have a good morning, evening, or night. Ciao, Cheers, Ching che cho, aloha, or however you saw, see you later.

This is illegible to me, sorry. Once the madness passes I will comment with something constructive.

What is wrong with the first 3 blocks? In fact what WAS Decipher thinking when they made the new blocks? We really didn't need an Orc CULTURE when we already had an Orc race.
-
i dont believe in sets 10-19, so i will not post a deck from those sets, id be glad to post a 1-9 deck though
-
Oh I believe in set 11-19.. I also believe in set 1-10, but problem of set 11-19 is that it is missing the last 3 sets which were planned for instance Shelob's lair.
Now thinking about that... Might it be possible that as Decipher already knew about how much sets there would be that they would have rough proto-cards for the last three sets... Another question arise.. If they had... do they still have it... and would they want to share it as the virtual lost sets of LOTR TCG?

I don't think pre shadows rings should be allowed.
-
Got to go with Lurtzy on this. Later rings aren't allowed in Movie. Just do sets 11-19. No Reflections either.

sounds good to me. I just thought it would be nice to have the ability to make dwarf and elf only decks, but if it is the will of the council, SETS 11-19 ONLY.
Also, in regards to X-list, for the time being and until persuasion can be made to change my mind, here it is:
Note: as with all X/R-lists, it is subject to change.
X-List
sets 1-10
The R-list:
Demoralized (I know this works great with rapid reload, but I want to see how effective it is if limited to 1 copy per deck.)
Final Account
Ithilian Blade (I figure 1 Madril + 1 IB + 2 Threats + 2 Exertions = Not too bad.)
Orkish Smith
Strange-looking men
I'm trying to make a functioning format, if you have disputations let me know, I'd like to hear your argument.
-
If you plan to call this format What was Decipher Thinking, you should have no x or R list. What is otherwise the point of the question: what was Decipher thinking?
-
We might be getting WDT and WAT (What Are (We) Thinking) formats confused.
-
gil, you have a point, but I want this to be a format people play, soooooo we'll have an r-list. without an r-list, some folk would complain about 4 IB with madril, and others would be upset about rapid reload with 4 demoralized, and still others would be sad about 4 orkish smith. I must admit, even I am guilty of using orkish smith to play unforgiving depths again and again.

I agree, but the format is out of balance anyway. I hate to see these overpowered decks that launch in existense. Decks up and running in no time due to sites, powercards and more. I hate cards that shut up an entire deck or that do all the tricks themselves.
Well I dislike standard in general, and not because of my own decks, but what I could possibly face. I love condition based shadows, but to see Namarie over and over makes me icky. Though without sets 7-10 it could be better, without into the west, Galadriel RB, Saved from the Fire in general....hmmm, it might work.
-
we'll see, no one seems to be too excited about the format. At least no one has posted any decks yet. Personally without sets 7-10, I think it will run pretty smooth. I enjoyed making my WDT deck. The down side is that shadow decks are somewhat limited, but there are still some really fun decks you can make.

Decipher went the wrong way from the very beggining. The game should be play to 12 places, 4 for each movie, and added in the movies order.
-
A bit hard when teh first set comes out with the first film.

IMO they created the new cultures as an attempt to reboot the Shadow card pool. They could create new cards with these new cultures, and not have to worry as much about how the cards interact with the old cultures.
Didn't work. :)
