Title: Minimum Votes Spread
Post by: Kralik on February 04, 2011, 07:18:46 AM
What should be the minimum amount of votes from the community before any changes are made? My initial thoughts are:

--Polls should stay open for a week
--A message can be displayed on GCCG login notifying users of the vote
--Somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 of the majority should be needed?
--Rules/Dream Team members most likely should not be included in the vote

Any thoughts?

Sounds good but I would leave polls open for 2 weeks, never know when that person who's vote makes the change is on vacation.

This sounds ok.

--A message can be displayed on GCCG login notifying users of the vote
This is a must if you ask me.

--Somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 of the majority should be needed?
Arithmetic middle of 2/3 and 3/4 is cca 0.7. I'm fine with 70% being the votes needed. I believe there should also be a minimum of votes that would make the poll legitimate. If the number of actual votes is below that minimum, poll should be canceled. I think we should check some statistics regarding the number of active users of GCCG and TLHH and make that minimum accordingly (I think that minimum would/should be around 20-30).

--Rules/Dream Team members most likely should not be included in the vote

I have no problem with this, but why?

Presumably the Rules/Dream Team members have already come to a consensus and adding their votes to the mess weighs it in their favor. :P

But isn't that what they're there for?

Humm, maybe. I'm starting to think that somewhere around 3/5 or 2/3 (60-67%) should be the sweet spot. I'm a bit surprised that on the Mr. Underhill poll all posted feedback was, "YES, allow him!" but somehow he still got 25% No votes. If that's the case for something that seems to be clear...

I think 67% would be about right cause mathematically that's 2 for 1 which seems like a good spread
