Nice...but nobody plays WotR block. It stinks. Massively. Its the only block I know of that NOBODY plays.

That being said, nice deck, if you can find anyone to play. But Hunters block is better. Much better.

I tried to playtest this deck twice and both times I had one of my companions owerwhelmed as early as at site 2. This is just wrong: the deck has massive healing and strong archery but no strengh bonuses and as a result no owerwhelm protection. While most of your companions (except Elrond WTH) are strengh 6 almost every minion strong enough to survive the archery phase will kill somebody in th fellowship. I just don't see this strategy work.

You need stronger companions I'm afraid. I'm not a huge fan of Refuge decks. Maybe some can make them work, but against an average deck, that is loaded with at least some condition discard you're screwed....

Companion choice is ESSENTIAL.

My Refuge deck runs Rohirrim Guard, Bouncing Hobbits started, faramir Bearer of Quality, and suddenly, you've got auto-kill. Toss in Aragorn x 4 and add in one non-comp- Hardy Garrison, wow, another killer engine. Rumil can shoot himself, toss in a random Dinendal, Gandy, Powerful Guide makes another sweet combo with your Hardy Garrison, while he's here, toss in his nifty Brooding on Tomorrow, then finish out the deck with Smallburrow and Twofoot carrying 1 Community Living, and a set each of Shadowplay/unheeded. Now you've got a massive cycling/killing engine, and you really only need 15-20 non-comps to make it work, make the rest comps (and you can build the deck 35, that's what I do, cuz it cycles like mad), suddenly, you've got a sweet Refuge deck that can actually kill.

Course, that's not WotR block. WotR block stinks massively.

Does Taking the High Ground trigger before adding twilight for companions?

If so, then you definitely want underground sites, not forests. If it doesn't, then I'd still suggest some underground sites and non-unique Elves like Elven Scout. What's the problem bouncing your companions to hand if you're going to discard them for archery? :hey:

I would also recommend lots of Nocked because it gives a use for Celeborn's amazing moving ability and also helps towards what I think your goal should be: to kill all the nasty minions before you fight them with Legolas, Nocked, Elven Marksmanship and Taking the High Ground. Also some different [Elven] companions might help. I mentioned the scout above, but why not Staunch Defender? Even if you don't have all forests, she's still amazing and doesn't get overwhelmed. I would lose Secluded Homestead and some Uncertain Future for this extra stuff.

About 14th Edition I do not know...

But Inspiration is very great with Refuge decks  :uh-huh:, Maybe Gandalf, Leader of the company 4 times? So your fellowship gets stronger in the first regions. And Gandalf is also at least strength 8

I'm afraid that Taking the High Ground ability means "returning to hand from the table" no "from discard pile"
