Title: Lifelink Heavy Aggro (Block)
Post by: SomeRandomDude on September 03, 2008, 08:40:29 AM
// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
    20 [SHM] Plains
    4 [MOR] Mutavault -R

// Creatures
    2 [EVE] Divinity of Pride -R
    4 [EVE] Voracious Hatchling -U
    4 [EVE] Nip Gwyllion -C
    4 [EVE] Nightsky Mimic -C
    4 [EVE] Stillmoon Cavalier -R
    4 [EVE] Deathbringer Liege -R

// Spells
    4 [EVE] Edge of the Divinity -C
    4 [EVE] Unmake -C
    4 [SHM] Runed Halo- R
    2 [EVE] Endless Horizons- R

Ya...pretty much a duh thing. Bang bang bang. That's the point.

Potentially building this IRL, probly without Mutavaults and Cavaliers. Lol. A little bit outta my price range. But the crucial cards to the deck, Nip, Mimic, Aura and Unmake are all commons (not to mention Swamps lol).

Attempting a cheaper version.

// Lands
    24 [SHM] Plains

// Creatures
    4 [EVE] Restless Apparition -U
    4 [EVE] Voracious Hatchling -U
    4 [EVE] Nip Gwyllion -C
    4 [EVE] Nightsky Mimic -C
    4 [EVE] Bloodied Ghost- C

// Spells
    4 [EVE] Edge of the Divinity -C
    4 [EVE] Unmake -C
    2 [EVE] Endless Horizons- R
    4 [EVE] Beckon Apparition -C
    2 [LRW] Oblivion Ring- C

Hopefully a cheaper version that can still pack a decent punch. Point is now to evade and remove in order to survive.

I actually got beaten really bad by a similar deck in a triple Eventide draft, so I can say: it works. Darned fast, the damned thing. I'd just suggest playing Mutavaults and 3 Leechridden Swamps, tops. And trying to fit in Dusk Urchins, it's card-drawing ability is REALLY good. Perhaps Thoughtseize could also be present, disruption is always good, but it could be sideboarded.

Fixed.

Is the cavalier really necessary maindecked?

Yes. Nameless Inversion and Shriekmaws abound aplenty, as do Murderous Redcaps, Unmakes and O-Rings. Seriously.

I see. Then it's pretty fine, I guess. Perhaps I'd cut 1 Liege and the Corrupts for Thoughtseize, but that'd be about it.

Thoughtseize is good, but in a heavy aggro deck, I'd prefer basher stuff over Thoughtseize. Corrupt is just an alternate win condition, in case I get bogged down late-game, bang, lifeswing.

There won't be a late game. If it's aggro on aggro, you have lifelink dudes and Mutavault, you're gonna win. If it's against control, not sure it'll work. I'm not sure how you could cram it in there, but you COULD try for a singleton strategy as alternate win conditions, and use Beseech the Queen to fetch them (Mind Shatter comes to mind as a tutor target...).
I'd still go and run Thgouthseize, after all, it's not like you have a ton of one-drops anyway, and it helps IMMENSELY when you need to force through a key spell late on.

But I like Corrupt. :P And Thoughtseize also drops me 2 life, which I don't like. I may toss in a Raven's Crime or 2 to retrace constantly.

Meh. Dusk Urchins really isn't that awesome. Can you say REMOVAL MAGNET? It always gets killed before it can do anything useful. And Corrupt is to late to do anything. I usually kill on turn 5, so Corrupt is a turn late.

Thus, I switched all my Swamps to plains, dropped Corrupts and Urchins and play a set of Runed Halos and a couple Endless Horizons.

Updated with cheaper version deck.

Too many lands, I'd try to run with 22, or run 4 Mutavaults. Yeah, I know, I love those.

I don't think so, actually. Endless Horizons filters the deck down very nicely, and 24 means you hit every land drop till you hit Endless Horizons, then you're good to go for the rest of the game.
