Due to my growing up playing Magic: The Gathering I suppose, I have recently felt the desire to get into another TCG. To that end, I recently purchased a starter pack for my wife and I, so that we can play together. The starter packs I purchased are from the Two Towers series and the Shadow series.
What I wonder now is, will these decks be compatible with each other? I remember with MTG, there were quite a few additions to the rules as new cards were released.
Maybe a broader question is, where in the series of releases should I start? I read that the later decks are not supposed to be used with the older decks, starting with shadows and the fellowship.
I tried to find articles covering this material already. If I missed something, feel free to simply refer me to it.
Thanks so much for responding!

The best way to learn, is by playing. And IMO the best place to play, is here:
http://www.gempukku.com/gemp-lotr/ (http://www.gempukku.com/gemp-lotr/)
At this site you can play online with people all over the world (including your wife), with access to every card ever made, for no cost whatsoever.
This site will also help you learn about the different game formats, and what cards are legal for each one.
