Can I pay alternate "When you play this minion" costs (like Mountain Troll 's) when using cards like Evil Smelling Fens?

Hmm.  My guess would be that "When you play" would work in this case, since it doesn't specify "when you play this from hand" or anything.

Goblin Runner, Moria Scout, or Goblin Flankers (after they move twice) all use their respective twilight generating abilities, even after being pulled from the discard, so I would assume it works here as well.
Notice ESF says play a minion from you discard, and Mountain Troll says when you play this minion.
