New page

=Realms of the Elf Lords=

Realms of the Elf Lords, the second expansion to the Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game took strategy to a whole new level. Largely focusing on the[Elven] allies of Rivendell and Lothlorien, Realms of the Elf Lords created an entirely new subset of minions with[Isengard] Orcs, largely expanded the[Sauron] discard strategy, and introduced several cards to keep the Fellowship healed. Realms of the Elf Lords also introduced a new Aragorn, two new Arwen companions, and the two starter deck companions, Legolas and Boromir. Realms of the Elf Lords finally introduced Saruman as a playable character and introduced the three Elven rings of power, Narya, Nenya, and Vilya.

"Power" rares from the set include Elrond, Herald to Gil-Galad, Aragorn, Heir to the White City, Gondor Bowmen, Horn of Boromir, and Saruman, Keeper of Isengard, and The Shire Countryside, while other playable cards include Frying Pan, Might of Numenor, and Bill the Pony.

The starter decks in Realms of the Elf Lords featured a new version of Legolas, Son of Thranduil and Boromir, Defender of Minas Tirith. Legolas, Son of Thranduil was also a featured promotional card (pictured) before the release of the set. The starter decks are largely lambasted for being among the weakest strategies; however, they are still regularly purchased when available for the chance of the powerful rare cards the set includes.

Realms of the Elf Lords featured several cards that were subsequently X-Listed in future formats, including Bill the Pony, Horn of Boromir, Aragorn, Heir to the White City, Saruman, Keeper of Isengard, and The Palantir of Orthanc.

Realms of the Elf Lords is one of the most difficult sets to find sealed product.
