The skirmish phase version of Hate, Mordor's Strength can be an unpleasant surprise for the Free Peoples player. With the exert-to-!wound effect, Mordor's Strength can allow for even a weaker minion to wound a character in its skirmish. Mordor's Strength is less popular than maneuver event Hate, as it can be avoided entirely by wounding actions before the Shadow player's first action. Additionally, minions such as Orc Soldier, Orc Scouting Band, Orc Hunters, and Orc War Band effectively contain this skirmish event's game text.

Even still, with a high-vitality minion, a well-timed Mordor's Strength can cripple a Free Peoples player in a deck with plenty of wounding support.
