Your favorite card?

Simple. What is your favorite card?

Mine is Argument Ready to Hand. In multiplayer games (esp. at site 9), it may as well say: "Spot a dwarf to discard all players HOPES AND DREAMS OF WINNING."

Not unless they have Ranger's Sword, Athelas, and some of the Age's End stength boosting cards. My sister's deck, in other words :)

Pathfinder. I remember when i first started and I thought every deck should pack a ranger and 4 of these.

Anyway, Orc Butcher is one of my all-time favorites. Recently I've grown quite fond of Smeagol BoGS.

One of my first decks was Orc Butcher spam. Hence my collection of useless, first block, sauron rare conditions.

It was not well thought out.

I've thought mine out hard. 8 wounds a turn, at least 20 twilight a turn (not including moving) and 8 cards into hand if they move in the regroup phase, which would add another 8 wounds and at least 20 twilight. Plus the Orcs, 13 conditions (19 strength Butcher) and any small orcs that would increase in strength through Strength Born of Fear, and some bigger orcs as well :) Not fun to play against. Even cards like Sleep, Carahdaras can only slow it down. Anyone know any [Sauron] or [Orc] cards that prevent condition discarding? (pref. a premanent condition :)

Sauron's susceptible to Maneuver-phase/archery-action direct wounding (rendering Orc bowmen useless). Also, there's choke, haha. I have too many favorite cards...on the topic of exertions, let's add Rout to the list :)

You just have to be able to spot one orc at the beginning of the archery phase. Not too hard.

You count the archery totals after all archery phase actions are over. If there are no orcs after the actions are over, tough luck for Shadow.

Ah... I see why you like it. You can have more than 4 copies in every deck! It would work better if it was just spot and elf to prevent a wound as a condition.

No, I mean a non-unique condition: SPOT an Elf to prevent any and all wounds for the rest of the game. Oh wait, that's Steadfast Champion. Nevermind, redundant.

Dwarf Guard and Lorien Elf can't be beat. Try this starting fellowship:

Gimli, BoG
Galadriel, LR
Dwarf Guard x2
Lorien Elf x2
Smeagol, BoGS

It's practically swarm-proof with no fewer than seven companions, and you have Smeagol to thin the crowd before your opponents can get any large fellowship hate.

Boromir, Doomed Heir (keeps getting bigger!)
Boromir, Hero of Osgiliath (sweet effect and simple card)

Now, doesn't take a whiz kid to find out who's my favourite LotR character is does it? :D

Wrong in so many ways... First, if it were a hoax, it would have been the biggest hoax of the first century that carried through to the 20th century. The very fact that it carried through virtually unchanged gives it tremendous credibility in my mind. Evolution on the other hand I would call the biggest hoax of the 20th century.

Might seem like an odd choice but I really like to use Delving in FOTR block. I don't have a deck without it (if i use a dwarf).

Boromir Lord of Gondor. This guy saw me through fellowship block and never really stopped being cool. Load him up with armor and take the balrog twice at site 5 everytime. What a legend.

Counter of foes was pretty awesome too, though! Especially if you wanted to make it risky and put 4x Endurance of Dwarves and maybe a Ring of Retribution... 14 strength and damage +8 at least, with nothing else! Probably the most powerful Gimli.

However, Saruman's Power.

EDIT: Adding a dwarven axe, hand axe, his helm, his armor, a bracer, and proud and able,  18 strength, damage + 13.

Counter of foes was pretty awesome too, though!

Best tournament win ever...this guy needed to win a skirmish so threats wouldn't activate, so he exerted his Gimli, Counter of Foes during the maneuver phase so that he'd be strong enough to take on whatever guy I had (Orc Cutthroat, maybe?)

Long story short...two Hate.

Edit: I'd rather play Durin III, Dwarven Lord, anyways. There are just too many other Gimlis I would rather play. Like the less dangerous Gimli, Loyal Companion, Gimli Skilled Defender, or even the underrated Gimli, Dwarf of Erebor.
-wtk

I've found the best two options for Gimli are Feared Axeman and Bearer Of Grudges, every now and then i might use skilled defender in a 3 hunters deck but other then that...

Sarcasm on Lightfootedness

It falls into the The Weight of a Legacy "I only keep one for my collection" pile

theoretically preventing a wound is better then adding a wound. The shadow player will have 40 total vitality throughout that game while the free peoples player will probably have less then 20, so mathematically it would make sense to prevent a single wound then add a single wound, aka Double Shot.

(I don't really believe this though)

But you miss a couple of things, lego: Sanctuaries (up to 10 wounds), and then awesome cards that you can find in many Decks like Might of Numenor and The Shire Countryside, mass healing ftw!

I like Lightfootness. It is handy, as it is Weight of Legacy. Well, state of rare is over estimated, but, especially in Fotr Block, Aragorns are often used.

Sometimes, a couple of Loriens Blessing changed the course of a turn.

no, not really, if you're playing 5, 3 vitality companions then 10 wounds will only get you to 25, so unless you have extra healing, you're probably in trouble.

Yeah, you're right, but most Decks use healing, don't they?

Lightfootedness...

Pros:
- (0)
- Cirdan, the Shipwright
- Easy spotting requirements

Cons:
- Lame ability
- Hosts of the Last Alliance, Elven Cloak, other "permanent" versions
- Takes up a spot in a deck
- Odds are, if you are seeing 1 minion archery, you are seeing a lot more than that
- Lame picture
- Lame lore

Anything I'm forgetting? I'm sure there is something...
-wtk

My guess is that lightfootedness is a Draft Pack bone, vs Moria Archery which is rampant in Fellowship and MoM.

It is also great if your meta is swamped with archery. Mine was for a while.

I love lightfootedness because you can hoard 4 of them in your hand, then at brown lands you can play them and say "hah, no archery for you, NEXT!"

Either of those options is fine for amateurs I guess, but when your opponnent plays four Moria Archer Troops at Brown Lands, things'll get real ugly unless you use all of that.  So make sure you have four elven cloaks out and 4 each of intimidate and lightfootedness in hand!!!!

if you give enough twilight in for block for 4 moria archer troops, you're already in trouble, lightfootedness or no

Yeah, for 24 twilight, they could get Keeper of Dol Guldur up to strength 16 twice and still have enough to play 2x Beauty is Fading. Say goodbye to your Hobbit Swords.

Pffft.  4x Goblin Armory + Relics of Moria + 4x Goblin Scimitar = 4 Moria Archer Troop for 12 twilight.

Wouldn't that be 16 twilight, since each Moria Archer Troop would cost [6] and each Goblin Scimitar would add [2] ([4] for Goblin Armory - [2] for Relics of Moria), and (6-2)x4=4x4=16? For that matter, you'd actually need 18 twilight since you wouldn't be able to gain [2] for the last scimitar until you had the last archer troop out.

Of course, if you had Goblin Scimitars (and maybe a runner) in hand, that would help.

well, 4 moria archer troop is 24, so let's say you start with 10, 4 runners makes it 14, use relics 4 times for a net 2 gain each time makes is 22, so you're still 2 twilight short...
