Title: What would YOU like to see in GCCG?
Post by: Kralik on April 18, 2009, 12:25:25 PM
Let's have a feedback thread! GCCG is quite flexible and new features can be programmed fairly easily into the LotR module. What features would you like to see, or improvements would you like to be made? Not everything can be changed, but we'll do what we can! :)

Here's what I would like to suggest (wlk, I have these programmed already if you want to add them):

-Mulligan shortcut for the first turn (auto shuffle hand and redraw 6).
-Working [Elf] / [Shire] Event and [Dwarven] artifact counter for discard pile (helps with Cirdan, Ring of Artifice, etc).
-Draw X number of cards quickly by typing dX into the chat (eg. 'd3' draws 3).
-Some simple keyboard shortcuts for the chat (typing 'p' alone outputs 'Pass', 'pp' outputs 'I pass all manuever, archery and assignment actions').

Also, perhaps we could try a couple of multiplayer tables and see how they work?

Any other ideas?

The Online Store. 'nuff said.

Something in particular about it?

Multiplayer tables would be much welcomed. I haven't played multiplayer in ages :)

Just an idea I pitched so players can get the virtual money moving around. Having an Online Store to whicih players could sell spares at a loss, and they would be available for other players to buy later on (in case you can't find someone to sell it to you since it'll usually be chaper to buy from other players). A way to generate virtual money other than playing, basically, so players that want to can build decks from their pool only, having the task made a bit easier.

Well, not a beep on every phrase, but a beep when someone enters the lobby would be welcomed.

I think there may have been technical limitations to the beep (ie. the program emits no sound when minimized?) but I'll test it.

This is not a gccg limitation, so there is not many things we can do here.
I wanted to add that feature long time ago (notification when someone talk to you, etc...), but the SDL sound library used in gccg won't always play sounds when the game is not in focus. It doesn't have to be minimized, it can be behind another window.
This is not always the case though, but I don't think there is much thing to fix this until new SDL is released some day.

Well, we tested it out... technically it's playable, but it has some funny flukes. Try at your own risk! :P

flukes? like what?

Decks look huge compared to the tiny cards, dead piles stack on top of each other (you have to move them manually), sites do not play to the right spot automatically (move them manually).

15S194 is incorrectly labeled as U
18C103 is incorrectly labeled as R
18C129 is incorrectly labeled as R

6C52 Garrison of Osgiliath is misspelled as Garrison or Osgiliath

I don't know if this is really feasable, but it would be cool if when someone ends there turn, all minions that aren't attached to a card are automatically discarded.

That sounds fun... maybe it could be done. :)

Not a good idea. I clicked ctrl+E by an accident more than twice.

More than twice in your total of... 214 games? :P
