There are plenty of ways to get around Gothmog, Morgul Leader’s regroup ability. But even then, you’re still dealing with a splashable minion that adds 3 Shadow archery, which is fantastic...

I don’t much like the idea behind this "early attack" decktype. It seems so easily defused -- for example, if your opponent goes first and you have a poor Shadow draw, you’re sunk.

On Lurtz, this card is fantastic -- nice stat boosts, a cool ability, and even some hand extension!
I don’t like it that much on other minions (it takes a LOT of incentive to get me to play cards...

Apart from the raw power of this card, there’s fantastic synergy with Erkenbrand’s Horn, and with the entire "fighting Ring-bearer" strategy introduced in Rise of Saruman.
