Maybe you could remove the "artifact" part, I mean, he DID "hunt down" Mordor (actually, more like stumbled on it, with a lot of help) and Mount Doom, while he was bearing The One Ring...

I actually enjoyed seeing Gandalf dashing down from the hills with Éomer and the other Rohirrim, specially as Éomer shouts a war cry. Pretty epic scene!
