A great combo to use with this deck is the Ugluk Ugly Fellow and the Berserker Torch because you get lots of wounds on the companions and then your Ugluk is really big.

Page 6 of the rulebook is referring to the win/lose scenario with the assigning of wounds. But if an action kills your wraith then yes he is immediately placed in the dead pile. I hope I could help so...
