No, I am not wrong. If there are 3 cards stacked on Preparations, then you can place 3 wounds on minions skirmishing that Dwarf in any combination you want.

Elf lvr is quite wrong.

Definitely use The Ring of Rings, and 2 of your sites should be Osgiliath Reclaimed and Caves of Aglarond to help remove burdens. Hobbiton Market is also nice for those double moves.
