You could start Denethor, Lord of Minas Tirith instead. Knights are more expensive, but he would let you draw what you need at site 3. His threat/burden adding really makes him a liability with a lowe...

This type of deck was popular when Battle of Helm’s Deep came out and largely resulted in the errata for Evil Smelling Fens. As such, this is still a good card to include in this strategy.
