DáinIronfoot’s Rohan Possessions w/ Men Archery
vs.
my Dwarven Discard w/ Dunland Men

He killed Thorin III at site 3 by overwhelming him with a skirmish event, then cruised into site 3 himself with only 3 wounds. I moved to 4 and he had no minions; I doubled to 5 and he still didn’t have anything. He singled to 4 and stopped. I singled to 7 and took a few wounds. He doubled to 6 and Merry died, which shut down the accursed Restless Maiden + Swordthain combo. I singled to 8 and he played 3 minions and Elevated Fire, but all of my companions survived and I stopped. He singled to 7 and I played 2 Elders, Wulf, and Saruman. He used Aragorn’s Bow thrice and discarded a Javelin, but I removed 2 and discarded 2 Hides, then wounded Wulf and Saruman. An Elder killed Pippin, and then I used Saruman to win Eowyn vs. Wulf. He discarded Knife of the Galadhrim to kill my other Elder against Aragorn, but I discarded Hides to save him, and then Aragorn was killed in the skirmish. Eomer took 2 wounds in an Elder’s fierce, and Eowyn was killed, leaving Wulf to face Frodo. He used the Ring of Doom to make Frodo a 6 strength, but I exerted Saruman for a +2 pump and a 12-6 overwhelm. Good game! Very Happy
I had to put something here.

AP’s Elven Hunters/ Uruk-hai Hunters
VS
My IB Healing Rangers/Corsair Swarm

He won the bid, so I went first. I got Boromir (complete with IB) out with Prancing Pony, and I had a very good draw that put a couple more rangers on the table, including my all-important healing Damrod and another IB. Then I went braindead at Site 2 and forgot to use my IBs! Laughing A few fierce Uruks later, my fellowship was hard-hit but surviving. I stayed. Later, I limped into the sanctuary, but all of my guys were still alive.

AP’s elves set up pretty well. Archery put a healthy dent in my corsairs in the first region. The few corsairs that got through put a few wounds on the elves, but nothing that sanctuary couldn’t handle.

I lucked out with my draws again. I added Aragorn, Madril and Halbarad (more healing) for the second region. I had a huge fellowship and was praying that there was no Anduin Banks coming my way. My rangers had plenty of wounds from IB use and AP’s very serious uruks. Through Region 2, I healed wounds where I could with Halbarad and Damrod. Then they wounded up again to make the minions roaming and to use IB again. It was wound cycling! Laughing

AP’s elves put up a good fight against my corsairs, but Namarie could do nothing about Black Sails. At Site 7, I unloaded on him, putting out 7 minions. It was one short of forcing Frodo to fight, though. The elves handled my corsairs rather handily, taking wounds, but no one died there. Then he doubled to 8. I still had 3 minions out. I added another three to the bunch. Elven Guardian died, and Legolas followed soon after. Everyone else was pretty wounded up when he had to stay for the move limit.

I spent Region 3 running away from AP’s bigger minions (by discarding them with Madril/Soldier’s Cache/IB combos). I lost my Pippin, WOBAS at Site 7, due to Mauhur’s assigning ability. Faramir, DoG’s abilities with the RB had to take over Pippin’s duties from there.

Crunch time came at Site 8. AP’s fellowship was wounded up, but I didn’t know if I had enough corsairs to do them in or not. Then I noticed that AP had decked out. He only had 4 cards in his hand with 3 minions on the table. My fellowship had wounds and could no longer use IB, but I thought I had enough bodies to protect Frodo. So I doubled to 9.

Sure enough, Halbarad, Madril, and Boromir all bit the dust at Site 9. Aragorn, Faramir, Damrod and Frodo survived, however, and the day was won.

Great game AP! Thanks for playing. And thanks for all of your helpful reminders along the way. If I’ve gotten anything wrong or left anything out, let me know, and I will edit it.

AP: Thorongil’s Elven Hunters w/ Uruk Hunters
VS
Dáin: Forest Elves w/ Forestguls

AP’s deck has been seen by many here, I’m sure. It starts with the Brothers, then sprinkles in Legolas, Glorfindel, and a couple Elven Guardians, as well as a fully-loaded Thorongil. His Shadow side consists of Ugluk, Mauhur, and several other Uruks, mostly of the hunter variety, along with Bill Ferny to harrass the Ring-bearer.

My FP side is similiar to his, but starts with the non-hunter Legolas OtGC in place of Rumil. It then uses Guardians and abuses Arwen SD with a bevy of forests. My Shadow side makes sure there are plenty of forests around too, as it’s my many-times-refined Forestguls.

Both of our FPs feature lots of archery, unsurprisingly. That played a big factor for him early and for me later.

We each bid 1, and he won the toss, forcing me to go first. I started with a Guardian and an Armaments to go with it, and spent much of the early game using him as my main fighter (which hadn’t ever happened before...usually Orophin fits that bill). I was able to escape Site 2 with just a couple wounds, and doubled to 3 with a few wounds, but nothing the sanctuary wouldn’t be able to handle. An early Nenya RoA helped. Thumbs Up

He followed up with a strong turn as well; it helped that he pulled Aragorn with his longbow AND Anduril AND a Guardian AND 2 bows to start off with. I was able to play plenty of Nazzies with all the twilight he added, but the Brothers and archery took care of most of them before we ever got to skirmishing, and Aragorn was powerful enough to fend off at least one once we got to that point. I did lay a few wounds on him, but again, nothing the sanctuary couldn’t take care of. Perhaps the only thing that DID go well for me was that Nelya TotNR and Toldea EotNR were able to turn the first five sites into forests for me to use.

We each did more damage to each other in Region 2. We each doubled to 5, taking several wounds along the way (though his were more from exerting than me laying on wounds, thanks to all his archery). I then moved into Site 6 with just a handful of wounds, but he played a good combo of minions: Ferny (to wound Galadriel), Following Uruk, Lurtz, and a very scary Uruk Zealot. I had finally pulled a couple bows, but was maxed out on threats, so Orophin couldn’t do much and his Zealot ate my archery and still kept going. Since the other minions weren’t wounded, I had trouble winning skirmishes, and he dropped a bunch of wounds on me. I stayed with a total of 9 wounds, I think it was, but everyone amazingly still alive (good thing since I had so many threats). He moved into Site 6, and I had only two minions to throw at him. He let one live through archery and finished it off in skirmish, then thankfully decided to stay, since I only drew one more minion after reconciling.

I healed up as best I could, then moved into Region 3. Thanfully, he seemed to finally be running out of minions, and I finally had several bows of my own that were able to handle whatever he did draw. I moved on to Site 8, taking only one more wound on the way.

There was a lot more action once it was his turn again, as I got six minions on the table at one point, and finally got to do some skirmishing. I was only able wound him a couple times, though, so the end results were about the same: he moved into Site 8 with a few wounded companions (of which he had NINE by now), but not enough to be overly concerned. Not often a fellowship can shake off six Nazgul as easily as he did.

Next turn, he could once again only throw a couple minions at me, but a well-timed Rohan Uplands made archery useless. Fortunately, I had a trick up my sleave: A Grey Ship, which turned my suddenly-useless archery into a LOT of healing. I was able to come out of skirmishing with all my companions STILL alive, and therefore the victory.

Good game, AP! Thumbs Up

Incredibly, with me having six companions and him having nine, NONE of our companions died. Had he gone first instead, it could just as easily have been his victory. Just one of those games where things worked out well for each of us, but never good enough to crush the other at any given time. Even with six Nazgul at once! Shocked Still can’t believe that was rendered so impotent.
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones

AP’s Elven Hunters /Morcs
VS
My Elven Hunters/Uruk Events

I went first and put down Trollshaw Forest for the first site. AP and I both double moved in Region 1, and he put down another Trollshaw Forest for the third site. So both of our fellowships were pretty well set up after Site 3. I added Gil-galad (complete with Aiglos) and Legolas to my fellowship, along with plenty of bows, while AP had added Aragorn, Legolas, Glorfindel and another companion with plenty of archery to his.

Unfortunately for AP, I drew an Invincible Uruk for 2 consecutive sites in Region 2. This rendered all of my Uruks for those 2 sites impervious to wounds due to his large fellowship. Because his archery was now useless, my Uruks did some damage. Even more wounds came by a combination of White Hand Slayer and events.

My elves handled his Morgul minions quite well. Morgul Brute tried to add burdens (which could later be used to pump him), but I chose to wound my RB instead, counting on sanctuary and Farewell To Lorien to heal Galadriel up again. I did the same with Morgul Destroyer and his threats. In this way, I arrived at Site 6 with only a few wounds.

For Site 7, I didn’t put out much twilight due to a bad draw, so I didn’t have many minions to face. AP doubled up to 8, taking losses of Elven Guardian and Legolas. He also found healing at this point, and his diminished fellowship meant that my Invincible Uruks could no longer protect the rest of my Uruks. All of this forced me to double to 9. I took a lot of wounds at 8, and I lost 3 companions at 9, but the rest of my fellowship survived.

Great game AP! Thumbs Up

NappyKorn’s Rohan Possessions w/ Men Site Control
vs.
my Elven Hunters w/ Men Archery

He bid 2 to my 1, and I went first. I had a poor first draw and mulliganed. I played The Prancing Pony to play Glorfindel, then played Thorongil from my hand and moved. He played 2 minions and controlled a site with Rapt Hillman. I killed the Hillman, then wounded the other twice. I doubled to 3 and he only played one more minion, and I stopped at 3 with 5 wounds and 3 burdens. He doubled to 3 and I could only give out 3 wounds, but I managed to get 2 Pursuing Hordes with the Mouth that produced helpful twilight later on. I moved to 4 and killed his minions with archery, then doubled to 5 and killed Gothmog (which was an ingenious choice of splash minion on his part, by the way) with archery and stopped at 5. His hand was having trouble cycling, and he singled to 4, sustained a few wounds, and stopped. I singled to 6 and took a couple of wounds. He played Gamling, The Old and Aragorn, Defender of Rohan and moved to 5. I played 4 minions and had 7 left, but at this point SdA froze. He conceded the win, though, especially considering the fact that I had Elevated Fire and Precision Targeting in hand. Good game! Very Happy
