LOTR MAP system is a movement variation that tweaks standard movement system a little bit.
LOTR MAP system is based an assumption that all sites are related to specifick place in Middle Earth. You are moving using normal Standard rules, but you can only move to a site, that is relative near the previous site. So it’s a kind of combination of old movie block site system and standard site system.

In basic system you start from Hobbitton, move next to Eregion and there to Rivendel and so on. Until you come to the Mount Doom. So the map system simulates the movement of the original fellowship.
No more random bouncing around the Middle Earth. If you want to reach a specific place you have to go there trough the areas between those two sites, like the rote from Hobbiton to the Mount Doom.

The players can agree also different kind of goal. Like the road of isildur. You take the ring at the steppes of Mount Doom from the hand of defeated Sauron and try to bring it home to the north (To the city of Fornost). Or you can allow "free" movement, but so that when you are in Lorien, You have to go to Moria, or Anduin Vale, or to the Rohan first, because they are the nearest areas near Lorien until you can go to some place else. Much like in old Middle Earth the Wizard card game.

So in short this is an variation, where you move in the Map of Middle Earth that has been divided in different regins, so that you can achieve a place that you are keen of.

In 12 sites Variation the Middle Earth has been divided to 12 areas: Shire, Eriador, Lorien, Misty mountains, Moria, Lorien, Anduin Vale, Rohan, Gondor, Ithilien, Mordor and the Mount Doom. Every site has been located in one of these areas, and when player moves to one of those areas, one site from that area is played (normally by Shadow player, if the Free People player does not use site manipulation).

Let me know is this cleares the idea behind this system!

The original idea was to allow the whole epic joyney of the Fellowship of the Ring putting together in first three blocks. So the best explanation can be found reading file from: http://koti.24.fi/farian/lotr/linkit.htm
27 sites rules for LOTR MAP system

That 27 site system was too long for any normal playing situation, so that is why I developed shorter 9 sites and 12 sites systems.

You can also read the next link (so you can see the development of this project): http://forums.fanhq.com/viewtopic.php?t=20854

Please ask if I need to be any more spesific. I am nowadays so familiar with this system, that I forget how long time it taked to me develop it, and that it’s not easy jump to understand it, expecially as it seems that I dont have any good explanation for the nevest versions of this system... I have to do some kind of proper introduction one day...

I really need some feedback in here. We are going to start new league soon with these "new old" sites. So any loopholes would be nice to find!

So many thanks in advance.
