OneFathom wrote: On the contrary, it was probably one of the most fun games I’ve played in a while. I appreciate playing a game against a tough opponent than just mopping the floor against somebody. Sure, it’s no fun when your comps die, but they hung in there to the very end, something which I was extremely proud of. Dervorin and Throne of Minas Tirith came up big for me...just not big enough.
Oh, yes, it was a tremendous challenge, and living as long as I did was a great accomplishment, methinks. But I found myself more frustrated than anything.
I dunno. Maybe I just need to play it again a time or two. MAYBE, I said, AP. Only maybe. |

AP’s Three Hunters/Wargs
vs.
mm’s cyclingish with gandalf site manipulationish/Troll swarm
we both bid 1 and he won the toss making me go first. (not a good thing for trolls) he played no minions at site 2 and i stopped there, eager to get some trolls on the table. he played gorn and and ended up giving 17 twilight. i had a keyward warg and 3 trolls in hand, and played a bunch of minions. which (he thinks) is the worst beating he’s ever received at site 2. he stopped. his shadow set up, and started beating me up but i managed to survive. when he moved to site 4 i have a handful of trolls, 1xhoards and a warg, but no keyward so i played one troll and the hoards. when he moved to 5, i drew keyward and watcher. he had played namarie and gandalf. i played keyword and warg, and added an extra [20] twilight to the 13 i had. i played all trolls in my hand except cave troll, and discarded one hoards to play grunt, and then the cavetroll played for with the toil. needless to say, frodo got nailed, and AP hates trolls with a passion. |

I’d like to play AP’s beatdown.
The problem is, everyone goes old school and forgets all the new strategies that make a deck worth using.
I’m going to see if I can force my SdA to work. Meh. I so wanna play again, I’ve been stuck playing MtG because its the only software that will work on my computer. |

MY: Three Hunters/IB Shooting/WoBaS/Fighting/Discarding and otherwise utterly destroying mess with Multiculture Uber Archery/Grind vs.
APs: Dwarf Discard/Dunland Not-Quite Site Control
I was pummeling his dwarves, and he was chucking RoF to stay up to my wounding. Black Gate Sentry maxed threats, and was ready to drop Mumak Commander/Lackey or Black Gate Sentry fun. Game crashed though. My archery/wounding pummeled his Dunland to a pulpy mess.
Decided on a draw, although I clearly woulda won. Bwahaha. |

Don’t be TOO sure of that. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from playing AP, it’s to expect the unexpected with him. He has the most amazing card-drawing luck I’ve ever seen. |

I did NOT use caps.
No, just kidding. I think I could have edged you out, though; I had another Ring of Fury for another potential 4-5 heals, plsu my sanctuary at 6.
My Dunlendings were worthless, though. Absolutely worthless. I didn’t even manage to draw a Hides. |

Dunlendings are awesome...but without Hides, they fall quickly to many modern decks, especially archery. I feel your pain. Make sure you have four Hides in your deck...it’s worth it, believe me.
If you can manage to control a couple sites (which shouldn’t be TOO hard if you can survive until skirmish), Ready to Fall is a must also. Lets you pull back your Dunlendings from discard, which can really help later on, whether your Dunlendings are slaughtered early on or not.
Oh, and Saruman, Rabble-Rouser. If you don’t have him in there, get him. He’s a nice pumper, of course, but he can soak up lots of archery if need be. |
