can i start any ringbearer, faramir, captain of ithilien along with two Ranger of the white tree and madril, defender of osgiliath?
You reveal them in order so first would be faramir for 2 cause of his text the the rangers for 1 each cause they can spot faramir at being 3 cost or do they spot him at 2 cost cause he was played for only 2? and then madril is free if you can spot two rangers. |

Faramir doesn’t reduce the twilight cost of himself, for the reason his gametext doesn’t apply when he is not played yet. From the moment you can spot him, his gametext comes into action. |

Yes, in the order you described. The Rangers spot Faramir at cost 3 and play for 1. Also in case it matters, Madril DoO has been X-listed in Standard.
Faramir can reduce his own twilight cost (another example would be the Elite Rider / Eomer TMoR start in the days of yore). Under the modifier entry:
"When a card specifically names itself in its game text, that card can be modified by its own game text when played. Otherwise, the modification takes effect only after the card is in play." |

Starting Faramir COI along with both of those rangers is a legal play. |
All cards do what they say. |

Although Faramir’s twilight cost is reduced, his printed cost is still the cost which is spotted, I believe. Because after you play him, the twilight cost reduction no longer applies. So he jumps from to , then back to .
So yes, you can start that fellowship. |

Ok got a question that kind of pertains to this topic. Is this a valid starting fellowship?
Faramir, Captain of Gondor
Ranger of the White Tree x2
Gondorian Prowler x3
Aragorn, Strider
Ranger of Westernese
Thanks in advance.
Sorry to ask on your thread kingmj4891, but my question kind of fits to your topic and didn’t want to make another thread if my question fit with an already existing topic. |

actually no that wont work NK cause Ranger of the white tree has to spot a unbound gondor companion and faramir captain of gondor is ringbound. |
