Last update: October 21 (More recent news posted below)
Here are all the Hunters spoilers I know about so far! I will try to keep this list updated as new spoilers become available (and as time allows).
These are NOT rumors, but confirmed cards that have been spoiled by Brad Defruiter (Decipher’s LOTR TCG Brand Manager), or by the folks at LOTR TCG Online, or have been printed as promo cards.
First a brief note of explanation: Hunter X is a new loaded keyword that means "While skirmishing a non-hunter character, this character is strength +X."
The One Ring, The Ring of Doom
Vitality +2
While wearing The One Ring, the Ring-bearer gains Hunter 3, and each time he or she is about to take a wound in a skirmish, add a burden instead.
Skirmish: Add a burden to wear The One Ring until the regroup phase.
"...the earth shook, the plain heaved and cracked, and Orodruin reeled."
Gimli, Eager Hunter
Dwarven - Companion - Dwarf
Cost 2, Strength 6, Vitality 3, Resistance 6
Damage +1. Hunter 3.
"’Well, after them!’ said Gimli. ’Dwarves too can go swiftly...’"
Elven Bow
Elven - Possession - Ranged Weapon
Bearer must be an Elf.
Bearer is an archer.
No finer bows could defend Helm’s Deep than those of the Golden Wood.
Haldir, Sentry of the Golden Wood
Elven - Companion - Elf
Cost 2, Strength 5, Vitality 3, Resistance 6
To play, spot an Elf.
While the fellowship is at a battleground site, Haldir is strength +2.
While the fellowship is at a forest site, Haldir is an archer.
Mighty Shot
Elven - Event - Archery
Cost 2
Spot an Elf to add 1 to the archery total for each minion with twilight cost 2 or less you can spot.
"’But who can say what it hit?"’
One Last Surprise
Gandalf - Event - Skirmish
Cost 2
Spell. Spot Gandalf and an unbound companion in a skirmish to use Gandalf’s resistance to resolve that skirmish instead of that companion’s strength.
"The dragon passed like an express train ... and burst over Bywater with a deafening explosion."
Quickbeam, Hastiest of All Ents
Gandalf - Companion - Ent
Cost 4, Strength 8, Vitality 3, Resistance 6
Quickbeam’s twilight cost is -1 for each Ent you can spot.
Maneuver: Discard this companion to place another companion from your discard pile on the bottom of your draw deck and reinforce a token.
"’A punch from an Ent-fist crumples up iron...’"
Aragorn, Thorongil
Gondor - Companion - Man
Cost 4, Strength 8, Vitality 4, Resistance 8
Ranger. Hunter 2.
Maneuver: Add a threat to exert a non-hunter minion with strength less than Aragorn’s.
"’I will follow the Orcs...’"
Chieftain of Dunland
Men - Minion - Man
Cost 5, Strength 11, Vitality 3, Site 4
Fierce.
Skirmish: Spot a site you control and remove (2) to make a Man strength +2.
Skirmish: Spot 2 sites you control and remove (2) to make a Man strength +3.
Skirmish: Spot 3 site you control and remove (2) to make a Man strength +4.
Great Axe
Men - Possession - Hand Weapon
Cost 1, Strength +2
Bearer must me a Man.
While bearer is skirmishing a hunter companion, bearer is strength +2.
To his surprise, Frodo’s cloak served as an effective camouflage among the rocks.
Isengard Marauder
Orc - Minion - Orc
Cost 2, Strength 12, Vitality 2, Site 4
To play, discard 3 cards from your hand.
While you can spot 2 other minions, this minion is fierce.
Wargs and riders sent by Saruman disrupted the villagers’ retreat to Helm’s Deep.
Mountain-troll
Orc - Minion - Troll
Cost 10, Strength 22, Vitality 6
When you play this minion, you may discard 5 minions from play to make it twilight cost -10 and fierce.
Shadow: Remove (3) to play an Orc from your discard pile. Its twilight cost is -2.
"Thrice the great ram boomed. And suddenly on the last stroke the Gate of Gondor broke."
Gamling, The Old
Rohan - Companion - Man
Cost 2, Strength 6, Vitality 3, Resistance 6
Valiant. Hunter 1. To play, spot a man.
While you can spot 3 hunters, Gamling is strength +3.
"’Dawn is not far off... but dawn will not help us, I fear.’"
Frodo, Weary from the Journey
Shire - Companion - Hobbit
Cost 0, Strength 3, Vitality 4, Resistance 10
Ringbearer. Ring-bound.
While skirmishing a minion of strength 8 or less, Frodo is strength +2.
"’Let’s... get out of this cursed place as quick as we can--if we can!’"
Covetous Uruk
Uruk-hai - Minion - Uruk-hai
Cost 4, Strength 8, Vitality 2, Site 5
Damage +1.
This minion is strength +1 for each possession you can spot.
The Uruk-hai pillage the remains of the fallen merely to satisfy their bloodlust.
Mauhur, Relentless Hunter
Uruk-hai - Minion - Uruk-hai
Cost 3, Strength 8, Vitality 2, Site 5
Fierce. Hunter 1.
Assignment: Exert Mauhur to assign him to a non-hunter character (except the Ring-bearer).
Seeking Uruk
Uruk-hai - Minion - Uruk-hai
Cost 3, Strength 7, Vitality 2, Site 5
Fierce. Hunter 1.
During a fierce skirmish involving this minion, it is strength +1 for each hunter you can spot.
"’Rest while you can! We’ll find a use for your legs before long.’"
Anduin River
Site - Twilight 0
River. The fellowship archery total is -3.
Mount Doom
Site - Twilight 3
Battleground. Mountain. Underground. Sites in this site’s current region cannot be replaced.
So, it looks like the next LOTR TCG set will bring plenty of hunter and anti-hunter strategies, a wounding theme for the actual "Three Hunters" (Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli), a bit of site-manipulation hate, and the return of the Warg-riders and Uruk Trackers. Good stuff, huh?
I also recommend checking out Decipher’s LOTR TCG: The Hunters forum. |

Preorders will probably be made available around the end of the month, once I have the full cardlist to work with. Keep an eye on the home page, or sign up for the LOTR TCG newsletter ("Newsletters" to the left) if you want to be updated.
As for the "Hunter" keyword, look near the top of my post above. |

Update -- a new pair of articles from Decipher have broken the Hunters set wide open, revealing so many new cards that I won't even try to keep up in this thread. I will leave my partial spoiler list here for reference, but for the most recent Hunters spoilers be sure to check out Decipher's Home Page and the official LOTR TCG: The Hunters forum.
Then, check back in early November for an in-depth Hunters analysis by pro player Kenneth Ellingsen!
That's all for now... |
