Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone here hosts their own, unsanctioned tournaments. I have been doing so for the past year.

I have about 20 friends in my area who play LOTR, and so I organized a tournament. Everyone pays 5 dollars to play. I usually spend $20 on a booster box from eBay, and $20 on winner/second/third place prizes, and the rest goes into reserve.

The tournaments are really great actually. First place usually gets something like an anthology, and second and third get two or three packs, plus some donated foils. everyone else gets one or two packs. People really like it and keep coming.

Do any of you do something like this?

Cheers,
Pipeweed

NO, when I play with my friends, I just play for fun, hone my deck, and someday I might go to a tournement.

I like to run the occasional fellowship draft tournament, but usually I play with friends and we just bring a deck or construct one at my house.

My favorite format is Fellowship block and Fellowship Draft is a blast!

I used to have tournaments with my friends. Sometimes we’d have everyone give a rare or a foil, and then once the tournament was over people would pick the one they wanted most (with the winner picking first, the gut in 2nd place picking second, and so on). It was a cheap, fun way to give out prizes. Smile

Yeah that sounds sort of like what we do sometimes. Not only do I host tourneys, but Play and Trades also. People bring decks and cards and play and trade for a couple hours. Sometimes we all donate a rare and play elimination and the winner takes all. It’s fun Wink

Usually we spend most of the time trading, then we might play a short game then we leave Sad not enough time.

I have done a few in the past. There aren’t any real prizes, but its fun and joyful for most.

I run tournaments all the time. As many sanctioned as I can, but mostly a handful of us just get together and throw the cards around. We sometimes each throw in a foil as a prize. Anything to keep the game going...

I am getting some friends together, so that might be like a tourny.
