Quicker than you think, though. If you get Ferny and Mouth at Site 2, Mouth can exert to play a Pavise on Ferny, a Pavise on himself, and then get a weapon on Ferny. You’d better hope that you drew Sting or a Hobbit Sword to play on Frodo! Otherwise, you could be looking at an overwhelm right there, at site 2 even.

Also, a neat little card...Elven Rope, I think, would discard Pavise by returning Ferny to hand.

Aragorn, Thorongil is the safest way. Threat -> exert him. Can’t assign him.

Shadowplay works too.

Shadow play is going to be the most consistent way to beat him as you can use it any time a minion is played. Aragorn, Thorongil doesn’t do much good if Bill isn’t on the table until the skirmish phase.

How’s about Legolas Woodland Emissary? You don’t even have to get a condition out to use his ability. You just have to spot another elf.

Again, he is no good vs a ferney that comes out in the Skirmish phase with Bold Easterling or Last Days

I hate pavises. I used to always run archery against EVERYTHING but pavises ruined my dreams.... Rohan is a good answer. If the first two blocks weren’t rotated out I might have suggested something with Bow of the Galadhirim, dismay our enemies, or Don’t Follow the Lights. I love those cards, too. I hate Decipher for rotating out all those awesome cards.

Hmm...true. But Ferny in the Skirmish phase can take wounds, because he’s minus a Pavise...due to the fact that-so far-only weapons have been made playable in a non-shadow phase by cards. And he can’t be assigned until fierce skirmishes.

Pippin, Wearer of Black and Silver would work well this way.

But yes, Shadowplay is an excellent way to beat him, because it works whether or not he comes out in Shadow or Skirmish.

WoBaS will only protect you through site 3 and then your ring bearer is fair game as the minion he gets to wound has to be roaming.
