yeah, maxidoodle and i went to gencon together and we both managed to do fairly well. Using his fantastically amazing Refuge deck he managed to go 3-3 at worlds, i believe he won most of his victories with his freeps. Anyway, maxidoodles refuge deck is a force to be reckoned with!
And CG, i guess its good nobody reads CCs articles! (but it wouldn’t have done much good even if they did cause i COMPLETELY Rev-Amp’d my shadow just prior to GenCon)
Heres the updated troll deck i ran at GenCon:
Freeps:
Gimli, Bearer of Grudges (s)
The One Ring, The Ring of Doom
Gloin, Son of Groin (s)
Durin III, Dwarven Lord (s)
Companions:
Linnar, Dwarven Lord
Sindri, Dwarven Lord
Grimbeorn, Beorning Chieftain x2
Dain Ironfoot, King Under the Mountain
Brand, King of Dale
Posessions:
Heavy Axe x3
Belt of Erebor
Well Crafted Armor
Dwarven Bracers x2
Ring of Fury
Ring of Guile
Ring of Retribution
Ring of Accretion
Arod, Rohirrim Steed
Gimli’s Battle Axe, Trusted Weapon
Conditions:
Proud and Able x2
Preparations x3
Chamber of Records x3
Events:
More Yet to Come x2
Blood Runs Chill x2
No Pauses, No Spills x2
Awkward Moment x3
Shadow
Minions:
Porter Troll x4
Beastly Olog-hai x2
Mountain Troll x3
Cave Troll of Moria, Savage Menace x2
Tower Troll x2
Ordnance Grunt x2
Troll’s Keyward, Keeper of the Beast x4

Orkish Worker x2
Orc Raid Commander
Events:

Well, thats my deck!
Adventure Path:

Nice! You’ve got Grimmy in there! A good choice for a troll swarm. |

Yeah, all my opponents got sick of me discarding my mountain troll to make him strength 26! Its great to see the look on their face when their beastly olog-hai gets overwhelmed! |

It was great fun! Especially getting to meet Max and PT.
I also played in Day 1 and wound up going 4-2 as well, losing only to two orc swarm decks with my Burning Dwarves discard/orc corruption deck. It was a lot of fun to play and see people. Most people weren’t prepared for orc corruption which was interesting given how much of it there was out there.
I highly recommend going to GenCon if just to play with people from across the country and meet some of the people that you find on these boards! |

I used to live an hour away from Indianapolis... I definitely would have tried to go this year (or the next). |

Yeah, it was great meeting you, MH. Thanks for the trades while we were there. I’ll try to snag some mordor enraged for you next time we meet. I wanna try to play you next GenCon, or whenever we cross each other. Well, off to building my standard ninja gollum deck!
