In MTG, you can toss your opening hand back in the deck and draw a new one, with on less card. In early tournaments in LotR, I know we could toss an opening hand back and draw a new one, with 6 cards on it. I just wanted to know, did this rule stick around? Can you keep on drawing a new one, with 2 less cards, each time? How does this work nowadays in tournaments? Help, bib and M_H! |

You may re-take your hand once, bringing it from eight to six cards. I repeat, you can only do this ONCE, and you still regroup to eight cards. |

This rule was introduced after Realms of the Elf Lords came out and I can’t seem to find it in any of the rules documentation. I did however do a google search for "Lord of the Rings Mulligan rule" and found this web site. The rule states:
The Mulligan Rule.
There is a new tournament rule for Lord of the Rings. It will be in effect and it can make a huge impact on your games. Please know the new rule. It can be found in the latest version of the Tournament Guide.
Redrawing your hand
After all players have drawn their starting hands (before the first turn begins), each player (in player order) may shuffle his or her hand into his or her draw deck and draw 6 cards. The cards in the original hand are not revealed to anyone. This redraw may be for any reason. Each player may redraw only once per game. A player who passes on the opportunity to redraw may not change his mind.
I hope this helps. |

Thanks, M_H, helps a lot! I already knew the rule anyway, I just wanted to see how it was written, and wether it really was only one re-draw. |
