Don’t worry, I’m going through the entire set. But the Elven culture might be a little delayed...

Gimli himself actually doesn’t have to be a Hunter to trigger Whatever End.

if I interpret this correctly, he meant that since he is gimli he cn trigger whatever ends text.

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. Razz

Correct...something I forgot about. Here’s something else I forgot about...

Forth the Three Hunters! This is the big Three Hunters combo card-and it’s Common! With this baby, you can do all sorts of stuff: wound, pump strength, or even draw cards for a double-move! Furthermore, most of those exertions can get healed with Focus!

Here’s the Elven cards!

Arwen, She-Elf: This one’s not a bad card, although there’s versions of Arwen that are much better (Arwen, Queen of Elves and Men, for example). She’s basically strength 6, with some token engine possilbilities-especially in Elvents-when coupled with Gift of the Evenstar, Blessed Light. An Aragorn-Arwen combo isn’t too off-the-wall with this card, either.

Dinendal, Mirkwood Archer: This is a fairly sweet Elven follower. Basically, although for a higher cost, you get an Elven Bow whenever you want-and it’s not discardable! Furthermore, Dindendal is actually fairly splashable into other decktypes, especially healing Hobbits and those unkillable Ents. You could even make a non-Galadriel Ring-bearer an archery with this card! Finally, Dinendal works to trigger the game text of Spied from afar and Lorien’s Blessing, two hefty cards to combat shadows such as Evil Men and Corsairs.

Elven Bow: Well, here’s the other classic, reprinted from Towers Block. Basically, cheap archery. Equip these to all of your non-archer Elves, and you’ve suddenly got an archery powerhouse.

Elven Warrior: This companion is worth it just for his possession game text: when coupled with Sword of the Fallen and an Elvents deck...this is a killer card! He’s basically at Base 8 strength with the Sword, and when coupled with some pre-skirmish wounding, the Warrior is ready to tank! Furthermore, his cycling ability is very impressive, especially if you have to use Focus again and again.

Focus: Possibly the single-best Three Hunters card out there. It’s a nasty combo when coupled with Aragorn, Swift Hunter (see, he is good for something after all!), and it can also provide an easy strength boost for your swarmed Galadriel or an elven tank. Pack plenty of this, especially if you can recycle it with Elven Warrior.

Gift of the Evenstar, Blessed Light: This card makes an excellent case for packing Arwen, She-Elf into a Three Hunters deck. Arwen not only gains bonuses from Aragorn, but also can generate tokens on this card with Aragorn’s exertions (all of which can be healed with Focus)! The card-drawing ability is also nice, but not the main attraction.

Haldir, Sentry of the Golden Wood: This guy is your basic site-boosted elf. If you play Uruks as your shadow, Haldir’s a tank. If you prefer Forestguls (or pack Uruviel, Woodland Maid), he contributes to archery. A decent card.

Legolas, Fleet-Footed Hunter: Okay, he’s a decent hunter. He’s got some cycling text (although it’s somewhat expensive, and not as good as Forth the Three Hunters! ) and he does have the hunter keyword. However, he’s not an archer! Furthermore, unlike most of the non-archer Legolases out there, he has no way to wound minions. So, not the best one out there.

Legolas, of the Woodland Realm: Ah, now we’re talking! Not only is he a hunter, but he has sweet anti-hunter text. This should help against that pesky Hunter Uruk shadow we’ve seen a little bit of here and there. Just pump in the archery, and watch those Uruks bit the dust!

Lorien’s Blessing: This is the single-best counter to Evil Men archery that I’ve seen. You spot Dinendal or Uruviel, and there goes the archery. Your opponent just removed a token from Howdah for nothing! This event is very powerful, to say the least.

Mighty Shot: This is the biggest help against swarm shadows (not bombs) that I’ve seen so far. There’s plenty of cheap minions around, and they’re in every culture. Orc corruption is an example of the shadows that center around cheap minions. And now you can kiss those baddies goodbye!

The Mirror of Galadriel, Dangerous Guide: Finally, we get a reprint of the Mirror. And it’s got some awesome cycling abilities-especially combined with Gloin, Son of Groin. You can go through your draw deck without burning any cards. In addition, you can use those two cards to set up your deck however you want-this card here is a good combination with Orkish Camp as well.

Point Blank Range: This is a simple 2-4 strength boost: 2 if you don’t meet the requirements, 4 if you do. In an archery deck, use this to mop up the surviving minions.

Spied From Afar: Can you say "the bane of corsairs"? With three of these out, the Shadow would have to pay 5 for Black Sails of Umbar! It’s a good thing Legolas, Dauntless Hunter was X-listed! In addition, this is a good combo with elven archery...not only do the arrow-shooting elves down minions, but they also can take ’em down!

Sword of the Fallen: Now this is a cool card. Not only does the ability rock (imagine Galadriel, Bearer of Wisdom + Sword of the Fallen + Power According to His Stature!), but the strength bonus is great too. And check out the sweet combo with Arwen, Queen of Elves and Men!

Uruviel, Woodland Maid: She’s basically a good companion for fueling those Haldir forests...but can also be used to stave off corruption until you can remove burdens.

Ay caramba, that would be scary! It seems a little too long to be an article, and it really doesn’t have much of a foNOLINKcus on strategy. I really don’t think it belongs there...I’ll just keep it in here.

Check this out. I’ll be posting another one this month, even better, that you could check later to get some ideas, this was written a while back, and I believe I got better at it after.
I don't like YOU.

Okay, now it’s time for the Wizzie stuff! The Gandalf culture is here!!

Be Gone!: Can you say "Wow!"? This card right here can be an immense pain to many shadows sides that focus on either beatdown or killing off your RB with a bomb/swarm. All you have to do is find a high-vitality Ent, exert it about three or four times, and you’ve got a much weaker minion. A couple of these, and Bill Ferny doesn’t look so tough any more. In addition, if you just need to take Sauron down a couple of notches to get beat by Treebeard, this just might be the ticket.

Ent Avenger: This is a sturdy fighter, and one sure to bring the Ents into fighting form. Many of the new Ents have similar strength boosts, also bringing Huorn to mind. And an 8 Strength, 4 Vitality companion is nothing to sneeze at.

Gandalf, Powerful Guide: Oh, boy...where do I start? This wizzie right here could possibly be the best Gandalf ever made! He’s a powerhouse with Fellowship Block cards like Strength of Spirit and Legolas, Greenleaf, because of that awesome gametext. Just wound ’em with Greenleaf, use Strength of Spirit, and you’ve got four wounds on a minion right there! He’s also an incredible archery help because of this. Use Be Gone! in the maneuver phase to take down a mighty minon, and take the opportunity to wound another. Then, pump up the archery-and there’s not much left of the Shadow!

Leaflock, Finglas: While this Ent may be a typical "pool flooder", his strength bonus makes up for it entirely. If you’ve already got four or five Ents out, he’s only 2-3...and a Strength 12, 4 Vitality companion! Since when do you get it that good?

Mellon!: This card right here is an amazing way to play discarding decks. If you’ve got a wonderful discarding shadow like Orcs, pop a few dwarves in here and watch the fun unfold! If you ditch most of your own hand before the Maneuver Phase, you don’t suffer that much from this card...and boy does your opponent suffer! Another great combination for this is to use Shapes Slowly Advancing in the turn before you play Mellon!-your opponent gets some companions in hand, and then discards them!

Momentous Gathering: Can you say, "Sweet"? Right here is what Ents are all about! It’s incredible filtering, and when combined with Saved from the Fire, can give you an ultimate Shadow hand. In addition, it can also give you Gandalf cards in hand to discard for Gandalf, Bearer of Obligation, if you want to use him as a Ring-bearer. And if you do that, there’s a fun combo you can do to avoid some of that twilight pool flooding..

One Last Surprise: Here’s a card that shows excellent Hobbit synergy, and is good in a pinch. If you’ve got a weak Hobbit that has to get assigned to a skirmish, just use Gandalf’s resistance (usually about 6-7) to protect that poor little guy from an overwhelm. Finally, it can also provide you with a Powerful Guide wound, if you want.

Quickbeam, Hastiest of All Ents: Here’s the first half of that combo I was talking about. This card can be used to send Ents discarded by Gandalf, Bearer of Obligation to the bottom of the deck, ready to be played. Of course, who wants to wait until the eNOLINKnd of the game to play those Ents? The answer, of course, is that you don’t...and if you want to know why, have a peek below at Shepherd of the Trees.

Shadow of the Wood: Twilight denial has never been part of Ents. Ever. In fact, they’re known for "peeing in the twilight pool". This companion, however, just might alter that slightly. If you’ve played some of those expensive Ents or events like Saved from the Fire, try using this guy right here. If you grab 2x Shadow of the Wood and another Ent with Saved from the Fire, you can play the one Ent, play those two Shadow for about 4 each, and then kill both of them off for a net loss of 3! Of course, that also limits you to 6 companions in play, but that’s a good number, even for Ents.

Shepherd of the Trees: Here’s the second half of our wonderful combo: this guy can pull those Ents out in the Maneuver phase, and give the Shadow twilight when they can’t use it to play minions! The only caveat is that you shouldn’t use it with a strategy like Moving This Way or Orkish Camp, because those also put cards on the bottom of your deck. But this is an excellent ability. Plus, a 10 Strength companion is always nice...

Skinbark, Elder Ent: This Ent has something of an unusual twilight cost...it keys off of Gandalf conditions! This means that Watch and Wait and Traveler’s Homestead will both make this a cheap companion. In addition, Skinbark makes the Quickbeam-Shepherd combo even better, by putting more Ents on the bottom of the deck.

Treebeard, Enraged Shepherd: First of all...what’s up with that picture? The Treebeard in that picture doesn’t look "enraged" at all. However, his ability certainly is one that will enrage your opponent. Against a weak Strength 8 or 9 minion, he’ll win and force the Shadow player to exert minions to get pummeled by your other Ents! Again, Powerful Guide wounding can finish those minions off. A great combo with Enraged Shepherd is Be Gone!, which forces your opponent to exert more minions after a Treebeard win.

So, I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at the Ents-next week...we’ve got a slimy little toad to look at!
