Notice that Merry’s ability can use the new pipeweeds, or the old possession-pipeweeds from FotR-block.
Now *that’s* nice designing. |
Riddle 9
When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

"Holy crap! You Do Not Know Fear! Goodbye conditions!"
Seems that Decipher has decided to take a page out of the Star Wars license loss book and just run up the power creep to an insane level. Uruk swarm comes down, saves two twilight, and runs off three or four conditions. Everyone gripes about Pallando, meanwhile, the fellowship player has to pay a high cost just to bust a single condition, especially if it’s used on a non-Gandalf companion. Gandalf himself used to have to pay five twilight to push the reset switch, but a couple hulking Uruks can skip even having to fight to get rid of a condition, but just blink and make them go away.
The idea around balance in a game is supposed to be that a removal cost be similar to the instancing cost. Not necessarially in the exact price of twilight (as we see in LOTR), but of the spent resources. The Uruks being spotted are resources not being spent to instance the effect, when they in fact should be paying some sort of cost.
No one has any right to complain about Ithilien Blade anymore, when a companion has to exert to make a minion go away. There was a reasonable cost implied therein. This is just stupid. |

True...although if there’s any new pipeweeds (which D has confirmed will be conditions), they won’t work with the old pipes, which spot "pipeweed possessions".
Primitive Brand is interesting...support area possessions come to the forefront of the Dunlending mini-culture!
And check out the emergence of the wargs! Feral Ride gives bonuses for mounted minions! And White Hand Butcher...a hunter 6 minion!! |

Yeah, the card is pretty ridiculous. Maybe Decipher is trying to make people play Uruks more, because they are definately the least used of the new cultures. This should help them out more than a little bit. |

It also makes Three Hunters and Uruk-Hai big nemeses. Three Hunters is very condition-heavy...Focus, Forth the Three Hunters!, Whatever End, and No Quicker Path. This is a direct counter to that. Notice also that it finally makes use of that Maneuver Phase twilight that Pallando and the Elven Followers pour out.
Speaking of Three Hunters...Dwarven Stratagem is an awesome card for TH! You don’t need a Whatever End to trigger any more to help Aragorn or Legolas finish off a minion. |

New spoiler from the Hunters board:
Looks interesting. I just wish it was a common instead of a rare - I can’t see this card being sought after very much. |
