Well, the strength bonus still works, and you can use it to take off the Ring. You just can’t cancel the skirmish anymore. |

Yah but if I understood the logic, that is simply to powerful.
Sorta like cards often say stuff like "Discard (or wound) a minion skirmishing a companion EXCEPT the ring-bearer" since for most shadows side simply getting a dude on the ring-bearer is tough enough without having the skirmish canceled. That is why cards like Hobbit Intuition, Hobbit Stealth, Filibert Bolger, Wily Rascal were sometimes overpowered. |

I actually think that the rule was introduced when alternate Ring-bearers were released, since there were some earlier cards from those cultures that could cancel skirmishes too easily.
