Rather have Thorongil. He’s a beast.

IMO (sorry AC) anyone who wants thorongil with him being printed as an uncommon in RoS is not thinking well. The ring of doom is the way to go.

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. Razz

Given the average in his particular uncommon slot, at most, he should be seen at one unit per box. Considering the variant versions in foil, this is basically what it should have been in Hunters in the first place, with some boxes showing two. While getting mixed in with uncommons makes the chances of a box getting two or none, the margin of oversaturation against other Hunters rares doesn’t go much beyond that of any other dual foil version rare. Decipher could have done the smart thing and done it as a box topper, or have done the honest thing and put out a redemption for those who got majory screwed in the printing error. That aside, given Thorongil’s obvious strengths, his value isn’t going to up and go subterranean, especially the foils.

The Ring of Doom is nice and all, especially the foil (of which I have a few). However, you can only use one, and I’d much rather get some restitution for where my playsets should really be considering the couple of Swift Hunter screws I’ve received.

The Ring works in specific decks, and only when it’s put on, which is almost always going to net you two burdens where one should have originally been the cost. If Frodo’s using the Doom ring, one must play any skirmish he’s forced to fight as one to win, not simply to get around an overwhelm, given the current speed at which a burden shadow can win. That gives a reliance on using the Hunters Frodo with the new Ring, since you can net a win against a non-Hunter minion of strength 8 or less.

Thorongil is a damn near perfect splash card in any deck you can conjure given his natural strength boost, and his anti-swarm capacity. Any deck can use a companion that can plink at will, whether it be a companion heavy fellowship, or a compact group.

Aragorn, he is more powerful, and more useful. most of the rings are good, but aragorn is a vital to most Gondor guys like myself.

"plus i think aragorn is cooler." Wink

I have boath of cards, so that is same to me. Unfortunately my ring is not foil, but Aragorn is ringfoil.
I hope Thorongil wouldn’t come as uncomon in RoS.
