WOW, a long-awaited new ring for Dwarven culture! Dancing
Just put lots of Ring of Guile for retrieving key events, Ring of Fury for healing and bearer of Ring of Artifice becomes even-more-powerful Dwarf.

Waiting for MORE of those Applause

Sweet Ring! An incentive to use the Dwarven rings’ special abilities! I see a new Dwarven "ring deck." Burn all the rings repeatedly, look how tough Durin III gets. I strongly suspect that this ring may get xd, however, on a loaded Durin III, killin Sauron outright without playing any events is kinda...broken?

Very strong card, not so broken like Saruman follower, but not far from x-list.

A quick ’Ring-deck’ idea [34 cards]:

Gimli, Bearer of Grudges, wearing
The One Ring, The Ring of Rings

Thorin III, Stonehelm
Durin III, Dwarven Lord

Ring of Artifice x4
Ring of Fury x4
Ring of Guile x4

Gimli’s Battle Axe, Trusted Weapon
Dwarven Axe x3
Hand Axe x2
Dwarven Bracers x2
Well-crafted Armor x2

Proud and Able
Subterranean Homestead x2

Nobody Tosses a Dwarf x2
Disquiet of Our People
Dwarf-lords
No Pauses, No Spills
Blood Runs Chill x2

the ever-strongest discarding engine Twisted Evil
take your rings as early as possible and discard them asap in a smart way, play RoA on Thorin to ease discarding as he wins, as the end nears, play RoA on Gimli to make him nearly unoverwhelmable Wink

well-paired with strong Orc or Sauron dis-corrupt could be ultimately annoying for any opponent Mr. Green

simply awesome!!

how can you say it’s broken? I don’t think you have any idea of what a broken card is...

it’s unique just to start with. With this ring you can have one companion get really big, but for that you’ll need a lot of rings in your discard pile... also unique rings that may really clog your hand if they come in the wrong order, and rings that TODAY are part of dwarves strength, so you’ll have to get rid of them to make one companion stronger... I don’t think there will be a rings deck lol at most people will pack a few more rings, but I don’t think you can make a good deck around this ring... it’s just something to make dwarves even stronger Very Happy (i love dwarves)

And there are also a lot of other shadows that don’t care about a strong companion, like corrupting...

It’s not even CLOSE to being half as broken as madril and ithilien blade combo or the new saruman follower... or even the new shadowfax that can remove 9 burdens in one skirmish phase... THAT is broken...

Very strong card, great addition to the Seven. As JayPL’s deck idea demonstrates, this may change the way the Dwarven rings are played! Playing a deck full of Dwarven rings does have some downsides, but they seem pretty minor to me.

Hand clog? There will be some, but not much. The plan is to get these rings to the discard pile, so every Fellowship phase you’ll have a clean slate to play new rings. If you draw two copies of the same ring at the same time, just discard it the old-fashioned way as there’s no particular reason to hold it.

Inefficient use of deck space? Again, maybe a little but nothing serious. All the rings offer benefits when they’re discarded, especially Ring of Fury and Ring of Guile.

So I have to agree that Ring of Artifice may be deemed "broken" because the strength bonus can get so huge -- with JayPL’s list, for example, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see a double-digit strength bonus (from a zero-cost artifact, no less) at the last site!

What if this line:

Bearer is strength +1 for each Dwarven artifact in your discard pile.

Was errata’ed/clarified to look like this?

Bearer is strength +1 for each different Dwarven artifact in your discard pile.

Then the strength bonus would be capped at five (currently), and it would take more time and/or deck space to reach that number.

with this ring and armor of khazad, you can take 2 possessions and another non-event card into hand. that could really set you up on the freeps side. use a bit of dwarven cycling, add a bunch of this ring, armor of khazad and hand axe and you can bring a hefty amount of wounding and get the armor and ring back into hand with the ring. add one elf companion to get rid of conditions with hadafang and seclusion and use quick as may be. with a little tweaking it should work pretty well.

That reminds me...probably a better question for the gameplay forum, but can a Ring-bearer bear another ring? For example, could Gimli, Bearer of Grudges bear The One Ring and Ring of Artifice? Because you’re right, EL: that would be one sweet combo.
