I've eagerly awaiting my Bloodlines starter decks and booster displays, and one of the cards I'm most looking forward to use is the new Boromir. With the amount of available eligible possessions for Boromir, the chance to boost his strength by quite a lot for only one exertion, is too good to pass up on. Kind of like a Gondorian Cirdan Smile

But the question is, how many possessions would be "smart" to play on him? By my count, it's possible to play up to 16 possessions on him (in expanded format):

Sword
Brego, Loyal Steed
Bow of Minas Tirith
Flaming Brand
Armor
Boromir's Cloak
Boromir's Shield
Boromir's Gauntles
4 x Athelas
4 x Kingsfoil

With all these in place, one exertion would bring Boromir to strength 28 (30 against Nazgul) Smile A few of these are obviously not worth including in a deck, but how far would you go?[/list]
I'm not stupid. I'm just unlucky when I'm thinking.

I have a idea. If you want Boromir really beefy, play with him and a bunch of strong elves and use Last Alliance of men and elves from fellowship. give him a sword, armor, some athelas, new brego, and play with houses of healing.

He may be doomed, but will slaughter any minion for the time being.

Personally I wouldn't concentrate on him much. I'd just give him a Sword and Armor -- nothing ridiculous, just a solid fighter who's safe from Wormtongue.

Even in a "Super-Boromir" deck, I would only plan to stack about 5 possessions on him, and then use cards like Saga of Elendil, Strength of Spirit, or Invigorated to get the most out of them. Smile

Here is what I think about this whole super borimir thing...

Ya, sure you can play all those possesions on him. But, if you think about it that is a huge amount of twilight tokens for just one character.. Seems to me like it would be very easy to get swarmed.. Think

PS... Ya, I know that this is quite an old post. I found it on page 10 Wink
Tolkien was brilliant!

Three LOTR Movies should have been made per book... Making a total of nine..

I like killer Boromir. Its so easy to pump him up to over strength 100.

I agree with Cobra. Having to many possessions in your deck would make your build weak verses swarm.

Although Elendil’s Valor + a Super Boromir would be disaster for minions. Not to mention the Swordarm of the White Tower possiblity.

this deck I built. Its key is to kill all minions, except 1 for Boromir to thrash down. I’ve got Boromir to overwhelm the Balrog, because my archery couldn’t get through him.
THe key for archery is getting minions to exert: you use Denethor, Last RUling Steward, Shadowplay, and Steward’s Legacy, and then finish them off with Unheeded. If that doesn’t work, use Power According To his Stature, and Gondor Bowmen
Use Daddy Twofoot to cycle, and Denethor can gain muster.
this deck has 10 possessions, but the key is Heirs of Gondor to make Boromir strongStarting Fellowship:
•Frodo, Resolute Hobbit (works best with followers/ PATHS)
•The One Ring, Anwser to all Riddles
•Pippin, Hobbit of Some Intelligence
•Boromir, Doomed Heir

38 cards (want to cut down)

Companians (2):
•Denethor, Last Ruling Steward (2)

Followers (2): (2 Shire)
•Daddy Twofoot, Next-door Neighbor (2) (cycles make haste/PATHS/unheeded for a burden)

Events (12) (9 Shire, 4 Gondor)
Make Haste (2)
Power According to his Stature (2)
Guarded City (4) (to reinforce Heirs of Gondor like crazy)
Unheeded (4) (exert Pippin to wound a minion that just exerted).

Condition (9)
•Heirs of Gondor (2)
•Houses of Healing (1)
•The Saga of Elendil (1)
•Stewards’ Legacy (1)
Shadowplay (1)
Gondor Bowmen (3)

Possessions: (12) (12 Gondor)
Flaming Brand (1) (+1str can be borne w/ one more str +2 and damage +1 vs nazzies.)
Bow of Minas Tirith (1)(+1 str, battleground exert to add 1 archery)
Ranger’s Cloak (2) (vit +1 res +1, site number is ranger or forest site is +2. Add threat or exert to make +2)
•Brego, Loyal Steed (1)(helps wounding and such)
Kingsfoil (4)
•Blade of Gondor, Sword of Boromir (2)
•Boromir’s Shield

Artifact (1) (1 Gondor)
Throne of Minas Tirth (1) (each time a Gondor man wins a skrimish you can add gondor token)

Maybe use the Isildur RB or the new Faramir RB. Faramir + Faramir’s Bow would be nice wounding. Exhaust em with your assortment of wounding cards, then make a mini IB mechanism that activates in the skirmish phase. (hm...Ithilien Blade without the Ithilie Blade...)
