I like it, and I know how you like your choices, but I’d remove the choice (well, sort of)

Exert Gollum to exhaust the Ring-bearer. The Free Peoples player may have the Ring-bearer put on The One Ring until the regroup phase to prevent that.

Although slightly weaker, and takes about the same space, so up to you... (weaker as cards that ’prevent the Shadow player from exerting/exhausting’ would cancel it out, as opposed to the original wording...

To play, spot Gollum (or Sméagol) and remove a threat.
You may exert Gollum and add 1 to play this condition during the maneuver phase.
While the Ring-bearer wears The One Ring, each Gollum minion is strength +2 and fierce.
“‘It slipped from us, after all these ages and ages! It’s gone, gollum....The Baggins has got it in its pocketses; the nassty noser has found it, we says.’”

somewhat useful, I woudl make the second ability to play it during the skirmish phase. EVIL PURE EVIL!

Okay, I’ll do that. You ARE evil. Twisted Evil

I think I’ll raise the cost to 1, as SoP suggested, and also do this:

Exert Gollum to make the Ring-bearer put on The One Ring until the regroup phase. The Free Peoples player may exhaust the Ring-bearer to prevent this.

Same idea, BW, but the different order keeps it from being weak against cards like you mentioned.

Thanks, guys. Anyone else?

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

I do? You saying I should just forget the option of exhausting and go straight for the jugular, forcing them to put on the Ring with no way out of it? I’m not sure I could be THAT evil....

Wouldn’t it make more sense to exert Gollum and remove 1 to play during the skirmish phase? Unless, of course, you wanted to be evil and have it as add 1. Which is indeed the perfect word to desribe this card...Twisted Evil

Dáin’s DC Duos #44

Wow. Today is the last of the Shadow Gollum cards already. Can you believe it? Posting a total of 12 cards last Friday and Saturday helped. Razz I may come back and fill in a couple more Shadow cards here and there when the set is wrapping up, but this will be it for now.

Today we get into a little of something Gollum has entirely too few of: possessions! There’s also a bonus third card that deals directly with these possessions (as well as a couple possessions that will be dotted throughout my other sets). Enjoy!

1Wretched Oddments Gollum
Possession • Support Area
Discard this possession if you cannot spot another Gollum card.
Gollum is strength +1 for each card stacked here (limit +3).
Maneuver: Stack a Gollum card (except a minion) or Shadow possession here from hand (limit 3).
Shadow: Remove 1 to take a card stacked here into hand.
“...fishbones, goblins’ teeth, wet shells, a bit of bat-wing, a sharp stone to sharpen his fangs on, and other nasty things.”

The idea behind this one is that Gollum clearly has some primitive but useful tools stashed away in his Misty Mountain chamber. To represent that, you take some of his cards and, in essense, turn them into possessions by stacking them here. Gollum gets a little strength boost for each. Then when he really needs his "tools", you can pay a little twilight to use them, whether they’re events, conditions, or other possessions...doesn’t matter.

2Gollum’s Boat Gollum
Possession • Support Area
Gollum is vitality +1.
Each time Gollum wins a skirmish, add a Gollum token here (or 2 Gollum tokens if that skirmish involved a Ring-bound companion).
Shadow: Remove 2 Gollum tokens from here to play Gollum from your draw deck or discard pile.
“He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake....He paddled it with large feet dangling over the side, but never a ripple did he make.”

I thought about making this play on Gollum, like how Fishing Boat plays on Sméagol, but I decided against it in favor of having some token fun. I think it worked out pretty well in the end...what about you?

0 Cross It Is Gollum
Event • Shadow
Exert Gollum to play a Gollum possession from your draw deck. Unless the Ring-bearer is a Hobbit, that possession’s twilight cost is +1.
“‘...impatient, precious. But it must wait, yes it must. We can’t go up the tunnels so hasty. We must go and get some things first, yes, things to help us.’”

With so few Gollum possessions, I figured Gollum could use a little help drawing them. The event itself costs nothing, but unless the Ring-bearer is Bilbo or another Hobbit, you’re going to end up paying a little more anyway. Still, it might be worth it to get something like Gollum’s Boat out.

Just because we’re done with Gollum Shadow cards doesn’t mean we’re done with the Gollum culture just yet. There’s a handful of Free Peoples cards too, and a couple might really surprise you. Get a couple reviews in by the afternoon and you can see some of those cards today! Smile

EDIT: Fixes to Wretched Oddments.
EDIT 2: More fixes thanks to a good suggestion from SoP.

Looks pretty good! You need to specify where to stack the card FROM, although I assume you meant from your hand. I like the card, but I think it could be unique. It might be too powerful with 4 out. That could be +12 strength and the ability to take any of those cards back into hand. For example, I’d always use this with They Stole It to get tons of cards to discard.

The idea behind this one is that Gollum clearly has some primitive but useful tools stashed away in his Misty Mountain chamber. Yay! Gollum has more vitality, precious, yes! Seems like a good effect. I’d definately use it.

You need to say where to stack the cards from. Also limit 3 means that you can only stack 3 cards here per phase, but without a limit overall. If you mean that it can only have 3 cards, it needs to say Maneuver: If you can’t spot three cards stacked here, stack a...

Otherwise this looks fun and potentially powerful.
