Weta card! w00t!
Just looking at the stat bonuses, this Axe is worth playing. 2 extra strength and an extra vitality is nothing to sneeze at, especially since Erland, Grimbeorn, Hugin, and both versions of Barliman Butterbur must exert to perform their abilities.
But when bearer is Grimbeorn, you can also retrieve a card each time he wins a skirmish. We all know how strong Grimbeorn can get when he discards a Troll or Sauron, so it won’t be a problem to win a skirmish. You can grab back a skirmish event to use in another skirmish, or you can grab back something to use in regroup such as Traveled Leader or Out of the High Airs. Heck, you can even grab back something to use next turn, such as a discarded condition or possession.
This Axe gets a 5 from me. It’ll see play in many many decks, especially if there are more Men cards in T&D. |

Agreed about that 5. Grimmy just became Strength 6, Vitality 5 (IIRC), and that’s before his incredible ability! And that next ability is just stunning. Grab any card? Dang, you could even grab something like Strength of Spirit for Erland! |

Wow, this card is great! Strength +2 and Vitality +1 for ANY gandalf man! WoW! Erland can now get four events back from the discard pile without even healing! Plus, with Griembeorn’s special ability, he is almost always going to win his skirmishs, making the second part of this weapon’s text practically free! You just gotta love these possessions that D is producing in this set. A very solid 5 from me. |

Awesome card, and I’m glad to see that Men are getting some more attention. I give it a 5. |
I had to put something here. |

How could this be anything BUT a 5? The vitality boost alone almost demands it. Men needed something like this. |

Yeah, really cool. Are there going to be more men introduced?
Think of what Armor and flaming brand could do with these guys. |

I hope so, right now they just aren’t top tier, sometimes not even considered a solid decktype. |

This is one sweet card. So many possibilites with it. For a start who to play it on? O wait... its not even freaking unique! So grimbeorn gets one so does jarnsmid so he can stay alive and erland gets one to pull back vital events. Then grimbeorn pounds his minion and you can get any gandy card back at all. Cant begin to think of all the useful stuff i want to get back! Awesome card. |
