While peering through the chaos and trying to decide where to strike his first blow, Rorin noticed a particularly large, scarred warg that was hanging behind the rest. It seemed to be favoring one of its legs—injured from a battle Rorin had missed, perhaps?—and was howling at the rest of the pack. If the Dwarf didn’t know any better, he’d swear it was barking (literally) orders to the others.

The elf Celebthir suddenly approached it, firing his bow not at the warg, but at one of the wispy wraiths near it. The warg growled, but rather than attacking, it retreated towards the seeming comfort of its fellow pack members, turning away from Rorin and watching the elf charge at the shrieking spectre.

Rorin smirked, and with a quick “be right back, lad” over his shoulder to Ryle, the Dwarf seized the opportunity, sprinting towards the large warg.

Another of the foul creatures saw him and, howling what was probably a warning to the pack leader, moved to intercept the new threat.

Rorin didn’t have time for this. Already he could see the warg chieftain backing away. “Outta my way, beastie!”, he shouted, using his momentum to swipe a crushing blow into the warg guard’s neck, breaking it in two. Rorin slowed only to ensure his axe was not sunk too deep, and then he ripped it from the nuisance, leaped over its falling body, and closed the distance between him and his real target.

2 Not Yet Satisfied Dwarven
Event • Skirmish
Make a Dwarf strength +2 and damage +1. If he wins his skirmish, you may exert him to assign him to skirmish an unassigned minion.
“‘Outta my way, beastie!’

The chieftain, realizing what was coming, whirled around and howled a bellowing challenge, then moved towards its attacker.

“Khazâd!” Rorin cried as the two met. “Khazâd ai-mênu!

With a blow that shook even Rorin to his bones, he hurled his axe into the air and caught it, driving it straight down onto the huge creature’s skull. He heard a satisfying crack!, and with a heavy thud, the warg crashed to the earth, throwing Rorin backwards and wrenching the axe from his hands.

The Dwarf gave an adrenaline-fueled roar and rolled to his knees, fists raised.

There was no need. With a final twitch, the Warg sank to the ground and did not move again.

Rorin sank down a bit himself, the rush of battle wearing off and the pain settling in. His left shoulder felt wrenched—from which blow he could not tell—and his legs burned from running. But he was alive, and everything worked, and that was the most important thing.

Rising to his feet, he managed to yank out the deeply-buried axe on the second try, and turned back to see how his companions were faring.

Ryle, of course, was his primary concern, and he saw the able young warrior rushing to aid the Hobbit. Rorin smiled as old memories were stirred.... “The boy’s come full circle,” he mumbled to himself.

Gathering his remaining strength, Rorin headed back towards the others.

Rorin is strength +1 thanks to Courage of Numenor.
Rorin (7+1/3/6,damage+1): uses Not Yet Satisfied to become 10/3/6/damage +2.
Howling Warg (6/3/damage +1/fierce) loses skirmish and is killed.
Rorin wins the skirmish, and Not Yet Satisfied allows him to exert and assign himself to Warg Chieftain.

Rorin (7+1/2/6,damage+1): passes.
Warg Chieftain (7/3) loses skirmish and is killed.

Final Results:

Rorin, Dwarf of the Iron Hills – 7+1/2/6.
Howling Warg (#2) – killed (three wounds from losing skirmish with Rorin).
Warg Chieftain – killed (three wounds from losing second skirmish with Rorin).

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

Adalard had been standing ready, if a little off-balance from his previous wounds, watching as the battle began. Everyone seemed to fly off to fight, but Adalard wasn’t sure if he could take any, and the ones he could see were fighting others.

He began to look for someone that needed a bit of help, and began to move himself over when he heard a growl from one side. It was one of the larger Wargs that had charged. It and another Warg had picked up on the smell of Adalard’s wounds, and seeing that he was at most half their size, they went straight for the lone Hobbit.

2 Easy Prey Shire
Event • Assignment
Make a wounded Shire Hobbit defender +1 until the regroup phase.
They smelled the weak and beaten food from far off, and thought it would make for a simple meal.

(Dain’s got an event to help, so it’ll go to him - Adalard’s got the Evil Warg and another Warg on him. The relatively high cost [2 twilight and needing it to be a wounded specific culture specific race] is for the relatively low amount of defender bonuses available to hobbits.)

To help others: There’s 2 Howling Wargs without game text, and a Darting Warg remaining (one of which is on Adalard, I’m not too picky) - to my knowledge. And no fierce skirmishes are needed, and none of the Wraiths succeeded.
Our time here is ending...

What did you want to see before the end?
It will be made in the Request-a-card Set #1 (name ideas also welcome Smile).

Ryle, too, was looking for a fight. Rorin had vanished with a comment Ryle hadn’t quite caught, leaving him to seek out his own target. He had rushed upon a Warg and then a wraith already, only to arrive too late as others dealt with them. Frustrated to not be contributing, he turned...and saw the poor Hobbit backing away from not one, but two drooling, snarling Wargs.

An image flashed into his mind—Ryle, as a young boy, backing away from a pair of large, menacing goblins. No help seemed to be near. Rorin had eventually appeared and driven the goblins off, beginning a friendship for which Ryle was eternally grateful. But for those brief, terrifying moments before the Dwarf had unexpectedly come to his aid...Ryle had never been so afraid.

He saw that same rising terror in Adalard’s eyes.

“No!” he shouted with a sudden fury, and rushed to the Hobbit’s aid.

2 Haunting Memories Gandalf
Event • Skirmish
If Ryle is not assigned to a skirmish, spot a wounded unbound companion with less printed strength than a minion skirmishing that companion. Exert Ryle to assign him to that minion.
Ryle was never able to forget the terror and helplessness he felt before Rorin the Dwarf came to his rescue, and was determined not to let that happen again while he had strength left to fight.

Adalard raised his small sword, prepared to defend himself as best he could, when Ryle suddenly appeared from behind and skidded to a halt at his side.

“Hullo!” the Hobbit exclaimed, too surprised to be frightened for the moment.

The young man gave him a grin and wink, but didn’t speak just yet as the Wargs descended upon them. Together, Adalard and Ryle hoisted their blades to face them.

One of the Wargs turned towards the new threat, snarling evilly, while the other darted towards Adalard.

Without much time for strategy, Ryle and Adalard began slashing. Ryle drew blood from each as he moved his sword in a wide arc, and Adalard frantically slashed a bit before driving his blade into the chest of the nearer of the creatures, drawing a pained howl.

Their initial blows struck, the unlikely pair of heroes took a step back, relieved that the only blood drawn had not been their own.

The Wargs shook their heads angrily, but kept their distance. With the help of Ryle, the juicy Hobbit was not as easy prey as they had counted on. With a final snarl, they bounded off in different directions, looking for prey that didn’t have help.

Adalard watched them go, patting his shaking body to make sure there was nothing missing and no new holes. Finding none, he looked up in wonder at Ryle.

The other was breathing heavily, but gave him another smile. “Hi,” he said, then shrugged.

Adalard couldn’t help but laugh, and Ryle joined in, the stress melting away...at least for the moment.

Adalard and Ryle are each strength +1 due to Courage of Numenor.
Adalard [6+1/2/9]: uses Easy Prey and is assigned to skirmish Evil Warg and Darting Warg.
Ryle [5+1/4/8]: exerts to use Haunting Memories and join that skirmish.
Adalard [6+1/2/9] and Ryle [5+1/3/8] are now, together, skirmishing Evil Warg [7/3] and Darting Warg [5/4]. With modifiers from site’s game text and recent death of Warg Chieftain, both are strength -1 for [7-1/3] and [5-1/4].
Adalard/Ryle [13 strength] defeat Evil Warg/Darting Warg [10 strength].
Evil Warg and Darting Warg are both wounded.

Final Results:

Ryle, Leader of the Ortans – 5+1/3/8.
Adalard, Hobbit of Whitfurrows – 6+1/2/9.
Evil Warg – 7-1/2 (one wound from losing skirmish).
Darting Warg – 5-1/3 (one wound from losing skirmish).

Okay, I THINK this is what’s left:

1x of the following minion (wounded after Adalard/Ryle skirmish):
3 Evil Warg Wraith
Minion • Warg
Strength: 7
Vitality: 3
Site: 3
Damage +1.

1x of the following minion (wounded after Adalard/Ryle skirmish):
2 Darting Warg Wraith
Minion • Warg
Strength: 5
Vitality: 4
Site: 3
Damage +1.

1x of the following minion:
3 Howling Warg Wraith
Minion • Warg
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Site: 2
Damage +1. Fierce.

All three Spectres will quickly dispatched. EL killed one of the two Evil Wargs. Rorin took out one of the Howling Wargs and the Warg Chieftain.

So, 3 Wargs, one of which has 2 vitality and the others having 3.

And keep in mind that each of those Wargs is strength -1 thanks to the site’s game text, and each of US is strength +1 thanks to Dirthon’s (AP’s) Courage of Numenor event.

Actually, I believe there are 2 Howling Wargs, but both have had their game text (damage +1 and fierce) removed thanks to Forest Sentinels event

As for wounded... I’m not 100% sure, but I’ll check too...

EDIT: Also, wouldn’t both of our minions be wounded twice?

There were two to start with, and Rorin, thanks to Dwarven damage bonuses, destroyed one on his way to the Warg Chieftain. So I’m pretty sure there’s just one left.

OK I got monsieur deh howling warg

Tuilin watched in dismay as 9 foes seemingly materialized from the surrounding forest. His pulled out his bow and fired an arrow at a warg jumping at him.
.the arrow hit it behind its shoulder. it hit the ground, rolled and came back up. It started running at him,
1 Combat Archer Elven
Event • Response
If a minion takes a wound in the archery phase, Exert an Elf bearing a hand weapon to begin a skirmish phase between that minion and that elf. When that skirmish is done, resume the suspended phase. a trained elven warrior could fire an arrow and in the time it took for the foe to reach him have cold steel ready for it

he drew his sword, the warg jumped towards him, he slashed its side, the warg spun around and jumped again,

he sidestepped and brought his sword down. The warg rolled, or to be correct the wargs head rolled, the warg’s body stayed where it had been. Then he pulled out his bow and prepared to finish off any other wounded foes.

OK Tuilin 8
Warg 5
warg takes archery and one wound from event. then tuilin wins the skirmish and overwhelmes it thus chopping off its head Wink

my guess is i messed something up somewhere
