Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

This ally gains each home site of each Eagle ally.

Okay, I may touch on Eagles again in a bit, but right now I don’t any finalized cards to show, so let’s switch to Men, and a race that has never appeared in the culture...until now! Enjoy!
•Barliman Butterbur, Worthy Innkeeper
Ally • Home 1 • Man
Strength: 4
Vitality: 3
To play, spot a companion.
Fellowship: Each time you are about to draw a card, if the top card of your discard pile is a card (except a character), you may exert Barliman Butterbur (or spot 2 Hobbits and add ) to draw that card instead.
“‘He thinks less than he talks, and slower; yet he can see through a brick wall in time (as they say in Bree).’”
His stats are more reminicent of his companion version--Barliman Butterbur, Red-faced Landlord--than the old ally version Barliman Butterbur, Prancing Pony Proprietor. He works pretty with with Hobbits (wait, wait... Hobbits?! ), but even though you don’t see it yet, he also has AWESOME synergy with a couple of the set’s other Men, especially Dasron, Tradesman of Rhûn and Riduan, Man of Dale. You’ll see what I mean soon.
•Nob, Woolly-Footed Slowcoach
Ally • Home 1 • Hobbit
Strength: 2
Vitality: 3
While you can spot Barliman Butterbur, Nob’s twilight cost is -1.
Fellowship: Exert Nob to heal a Hobbit or a Man ally.
Regroup: Discard a or possession from play or from hand to heal Nob.
“A cheery-looking hobbit bobbed out of a door, and seeing the travelers, stopped short and stared at them with great interest.”
•Bob, Ostler
Ally • Home 1 • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 3
To play, spot Barliman Butterbur or Nob.
Fellowship: If you can spot 3 other Hobbits, you may play Bill the Pony from your draw deck or discard pile.
Regroup: Exert Bob to play a Free Peoples mount from your discard pile.
“‘A poor old half-starved creature it is, but he won’t part with it for less than thrice its worth, seeing how you’re placed, not if I knows Bill Ferny.’”
Bree-Hobbit
Ally • Home 1 • Hobbit
Strength: 2
Vitality: 2
To play, spot 2 Men or a Hobbit.
Each time you play another companion or Hobbit, heal this ally.
Maneuver: Exert this ally to heal a Man or a Hobbit.
“But most of them had natural names, such as Banks, Brockhouse, Longholes, Sandheaver, and Tunnelly....There were several Underhills from Saddle, and as they could not imagine sharing a name without being related, they took Frodo to their hearts as a long-lost cousin.” |

As usual Dain, pretty soild stuff.
The only thing I don’t like is the way Bree-Hobbit heals. It just doesn’t seem very "story-like". I mean, why would Bree-Hobbits be encouraged by the death of a companion? I dunno, just some or my thoughts.
Here’s my suggestion:
Bree-Hobbit
Ally • Home 1 • Hobbit
Strength: 2
Vitality: 2
To play, spot 2 Men or a Hobbit.
You play a companion or Hobbit, heal this ally.
Maneuver: Exert this ally to heal a Man or a Hobbit.
“But most of them had natural names, such as Banks, Brockhouse, Longholes, Sandheaver, and Tunnelly....There were several Underhills from Saddle, and as they could not imagine sharing a name without being related, they took Frodo to their hearts as a long-lost cousin.”
For me, this seems to fit the text better because the Bree-Hobbits were encouraged by the arrival of Frodo and this company. This would translate into the game as playing a companion to heal that ally. Lmk what you think. |
