Yes, but he also said that we double-moved. Hence, there wouldn’t be a fellowship phase; it would just skip from regroup to Shadow.

I think we double-moved from the last site and skipped this turn’s fellowship phase. Now that the skirmishing is (apparently) over, we will move into regroup and then start a new turn, beginning with a fellowship phase, at the next site (Site 6, I think).

I’m working on mine....I’ll post it here.

Joining the others, Duinihir turned to Celebthir and asked about the Wargs. "What are these wargs?" asked Duinihir.

Celebthir replied, "These wargs are wargs who have travelled to far in the North, where the lights of Arda once lay. That area is cursed, and those who travel there become ice, swifter than the fastest of their race, and solid as ice. They are possessed with an accursed power."

"Do you know how they fight now?" asked Duinihir. "I haver examined them, and it seems that they would fall easily to spells or fire."

"Yes," said Celebthir. "I believe I have discovered their power. We know their ways, and as such, they will be at a great disadvantage next time."

“That was some fine spell-work, my friend,” said Dirthon to Silvarin. Silvarin nodded his thanks. “And some fine axe-work on your part,” the ranger said to Rorin as the Dwarf approached them.

“Ah, I’ve done better,” said the Dwarf modestly. He no longer felt the same fear for the creatures that he once had felt. Turning to Silvarin, the Dwarf spoke.

“Aye, your blue magic came to the rescue just in time.” Rorin paused and patted his axe. “That beastie nearly had me.”

Ryle joined the companions. “Good to see you safe and sound,” he said to Rorin. The Dwarf nodded. “Your bird was a help,” he said. Ryle grinned as Aeglirnen flew down and perched on his shoulder.

Dirthon looked up sky. It was boiling with grey clouds, and thunder could be heard faintly. He moved away from the companions and approached Curubethion, who was speaking in low tones to Duinhir.

“Hello, friend,” Duinhir greeted Dirthon. Dirthon nodded his greeting. Curubethion spoke. “There is something in the air that troubles me,” he said. “I have a chill feeling, but it is not from the cold.” Duinhir and Dirthon nodded their heads in agreement.

“Be careful, friends,” Curubethion said. “Be on your guard.” The other two rangers nodded and walked away.

3 Defenders of the North Gondor
Event • Fellowship
Spot 3 rangers to reinforce 2 Gondor tokens (or 3 tokens if you can spot 3 or more Free Peoples races).

That spots Duinhir, Curubethion, and myself, and there are 4 Free Peoples races. Hence, it reinforces 3 Gondor tokens, which gives Fragrance of Ithilien a total of 5 tokens. Smile

Silvarin ran from his village, mad with grief. His brother had taken everything he cared about... he had been outmatched by a youngling. Filled with shame and despair, Silvarin dissapeared into the forest of Mirkwood...

Suddenly, a great shadowy shape stood before him. Silvarin could feel power rolling off of him like a wave.

"Who... who are you?" Shouted Silvarin.

"My name... is Morgok.

The figure held out a ring... it was golden, set with a black stone.

"You seek power," Morgok wispered, "here is your way to obtain it. Follow me."

Silvarin reached out his hand, and slipped the ring onto his finger. A scream escaped his lips, as he felt something flowing into his body... taking control...

Silvarin awoke, as if from a dream. His hands felt wet. He looked down, to find that they were covered in blood. He felt heavy... he realized he was wearing a suit of dark, black armor. The sword in his hand was also drenched in blood. He looked further down. The lifeless eyes of his parents stared back...

Lyon rushed forward with a wild yell, sword swinging in one powerful arc. The soldier parried easily, but Lyon shoved him back, still holding their swords together, and pinned the warrior against a tree and their swords across their chests. He reached his hand underneath the soldier’s helmet and pulled up...

...his brother’s face stared back at him. Although it was what he had expected, Lyon was still surprised. His brother had changed much over the years. His hair was once strong and lustrous, now it was white and brittle. His face was as pale as a corpse’s, and he had deep bags beneath his eyes that were as black as midnight. But what surprised Lyon most was his brother’s eyes. Once a lightning blue, they had now glazed over with a cloudy white film...

Silvarin raised his right hand, and make a mystic sign with his fingers. He muttered under his breath, and a bolt of flame left his palm. Lyon swiftly dodged the magical attack. His brother charged forward, and Lyon parried once more, drawing his hunting knife as he did. As his brother turned around, Lyon uttered a spell of his own, and brought the knife, now wreathed in flame, down upon the ring on his brother’s finger. The stone in the center shattered into a thousand fragments...

Silvarin screamed, a deathly, unearthly sound, and the screams continued, even as his eyes rolled and his mouth shut. A spirit was rising from the golden band upon Silvarin’s finger, like a wisp of shadow...

A burst of light came through the specter’s chest. It wailed, one final time, and fell to the ground. It left the way it came, the wisps of shadow spread out across the earth and faded into the dust. Lyon looked across at his brother, whose had was still raised from the spell he had cast...

Corvus walked towards the elf in the strange armor, grabbed him and yelled: "You! What did you do to him? Haven’t you caused enough harm already? What did you do to your brother?"

"Come on, brother. Let us turn the tide in this fight," said Silvarin. They both walked to join in the battle between Morgok and Durail. Morgok seemed to sense their approach, he knocked Durail back with a swift kick and turned to face the elven brothers. They separated, and circled around their foe. Silvarin formed the words of a spell, and Lyon charged forward...

Morgok attempted to end the battle with one mighy swing. Lyon ducked down, and stuck out with his hunting knife and sword. Morgok was fast enough to parry the sword, but the knife pierced his leg. Morgok let out a cry, and stepped back. Lyon rose to his feet, sword twisting Morgok’s blade aside. He spun around with magically enhanced speed, sword moving toward the villain’s neck... and he stopped. A wild look came into Lyon’s eyes. He stepped back, his whole body shaking. His sword arm fell to his side, with his other hand he clutched at his chest. He coughed, and blood spewed from his mouth. He blinked, and droplets of blood splattered from his eyes as well. His breathing was fast and irregular, and his mouth was twisted in a silent scream. Morgok took this moment to step forward, sword thrusting. The blow cought Lyon in the stomach, and in moments he was on fire from Morgok’s spell...

Silvarin jolted as he felt a hand being laid on his arm.

"What’s the matter, laddie?" Asked Rorin.

"It... it is nothing," said Silvarin, quickly. Rorin looked at him oddly, but simply nodded, leaned back, and took out a pipe. Both elf and dwarf were seated on a fallen log, a short way from where the battle had taken place.

"Rorin," said Silvarin, quietly, "do you believe in second chances?"

"What do you mean, lad?"

"If... someone... did something terrible, something that killed many people, something that could have endangered the whole world... do you think they should have another chance?"

"It’s not for me to say," said Rorin, simply, leaning back and puffing on the pipe. "The past isn’t everything, elf. What really matters is what comes next."

And suddenly, before he even knew what he was doing, Silvarin was talking to Rorin, telling him everything. About his village, his parents, his brother. About his lost love and lost titles. About the figure he had met in the forest. Everything, until the death of his brother. Here, Silvarin’s voice cracked, and tears were streaming down his face. He put his head in his hands and wept.

Rorin didn’t know what to do. Though Silvarin seemed to show more emotion than any other Elf Rorin had met before, he hadn’t expected a centuries-old Elf to ever weep, especially in front of...well, a Dwarf!

“Aaaah,” he started. “Umm....”

Silvarin looked at him expectantly, and his grief reminded Rorin of something that he might be able to say after all. Clearing his throat, Rorin started, “I killed my father too, you know.”

“You did?” the Elf replied, very surprised.

“By accident, of course,” Rorin said hurriedly, removing his pipe. “I come from the Iron Hills. We mine for iron ore there...the mines are very abundant.” Silvarin looked confused, wondering where this was going. “When I was younger, I was mining deep in the heart of the mountains one day. Long story short, I made a mistake and I fell. My father came to rescue me. He pulled me out, but he...didn’t make it.” Rorin paused for a long while, looking ahead but not really seeing, deep in thought. He hadn’t shared this story with anyone but Ryle before. “He was a great Dwarf, my father, one of the finest smiths in the history of my people. And I...killed him.”

“No you didn’t, Rorin,” Silvarin replied. “You didn’t mean for that to happen. Not any of it.”

The Dwarf looked back intently. “And you did?”

Silvarin opened his mouth, then closed it again. Finally he said, “I made a choice. You were just—”

“You made a choice to accept an offer for power,” Rorin cut in, “for help. You didn’t choose to kill anyone. You didn’t mean for any of that to happen, just as I didn’t mean for my father to fall into the mines.”

“But...it’s different,” Silvarin insisted.

“How?” Rorin demanded.

Once again, Silvarin was about to reply, but realized he didn’t know what to say.

Rorin sighed and puffed on his pipe again. “We all make mistakes, Elf. We all—”

“I murdered my family, my people!” Silvarin said loudly, the tears returning. “You call that just a mistake?!”

“Aye, lad,” Rorin said softly. “Your brother forgave you. He understood that what you did was not your choice. Why can you not forgive yourself?”

The Elf sat silent. He had no answer. First, he had been frustrated that Rorin had not understood. Now he was frustrated that the Dwarf might understand completely, and that it could be Silvarin that didn’t comprehend everything.

“Your rage took control once, Silvarin,” Rorin said, standing. “You have to let it go, or it just might do it again.” He patted the Elf on the shoulder, paused to reflect for a moment on the irony of that, and then nodded and walked off towards the rest of the group, leaving Silvarin with his thoughts.

The Dwarf didn’t have to go far to find someone else who had shared his history with him. That seemed to be happening a lot lately, Rorin thought to himself.

“Hello, Rorin,” Ectheow said in greeting.

“Ectheow,” the Dwarf replied with a small smile. “Where are those skills I taught you? I haven’t seen any evidence my lessons have sunk in,” he teased. “The last time I saw you take a swing, it was with a shield, not an axe!” He chuckled.

“Alright, alright,” Ectheow laughed. “I haven’t really had a chance with you Dwarves and rangers and elves running around killing everything in sight.”

“Well keep up then, lad!” Rorin said. “If you can’t outrun a Dwarf, then you need some serious work!”

That got them both laughing for a moment as Ryle approached. The Ortan nodded to them both and shared, “Curubethion wants to move soon. He is examining what remains of the icewargs, then he wants to continue on. He says there is a place we can rest longer nearby.”

“Always in such a hurry!” Rorin said. “Very well, if Master Curubastion wants to go, then we will go. But only once I finish smoking!” he finished, puffing his pipe vigorously for effect.

Oh, and in relation to all the tales Rorin has shared with others thus far, here’s my event for the next site.

[X] Good Company Dwarven
Event • Fellowship
X is the number of cultures (except Dwarven) in the fellowship.
Spot a Dwarf to reinforce a token of each culture (except Dwarven) in the fellowship.
“The Dwarf didn’t have to go far to find someone else who had shared his history with him. That seemed to be happening a lot lately....”

Basically, if I wrote this right, this would add an extra token to one token-stacked card for each culture EXCEPT Dwarven. So for Gondor, either A Strange Company or Fragrance of Ithilien would get another token, and for Elven, either Deep Calm or Practice would get one. Gandalf and Shire don’t have any token conditions, so there’s no benefit there, but Rohan has Gleomenn Sorgiende, so that gets one.

Personally, I’d vote Deep Calm for Elven, since that seems to make more sense, but I’m not sure about Gondor. Up to you all, I guess.

I’ll do Ryle’s event soonish. I’m still trying to nail down exactly what to do for him. Think

Silvarin sat long in thought after the dwarf had left. He had expected for Rorin to hate him more for what he had done, but the actual effect was so opposite that it was hard to comprehend. The dwarf had been compassionate, helpful, and even, Silvarin shuddered at the thought, friendly. It was most confusing.

What was even more disturbing was that Rorin was right. Silvarin’s mind naturally reached to find any way to disprove his logic, to say that the dwarf really didn’t understand, to be yet again alone with his burden. But there was nothing. Silvarin smiled. This dwarf had made him see what no one else had; that it wasn’t his fault.

His brother... his brother had forgiven him, too. Even after everything that happened. And Lyon had finally been avenged. The burdens of the past could finally be let go.

Silvarin smiled, and walked over to the rest of the group. They were already beginning to move out, towards wherever the ranger would next lead them.

But there was still one problem. There was something Silvarin needed at that moment to finally move on. He stepped up to Rorin, slowly, reluctantly.

"You wouldn’t happen to have any ale, would you?"

"Well," Ectheow said, watching the Dwarf puff away, "you can’t say that the shield didn’t do the trick."

He looked back at where Silvarin sat, recovering from his conversation with Rorin.

"What’d you tell the elf? That he had a speck in his hair? Never seen one of them get that upset. No, don’t tell me," Ectheow continued before Rorin could respond. "I’d probably rather not know. But we ought to rest here before we move on. Besides. I want to think over what I know which may aid us against whatever these... things... are.
Master Hyglac taught me more than just songs about the wars of men. Although I had though much of it pure legend before I came North." Ectheow glanced over at the Halfling. "Holbytas, for example. Or hoblites, or whatever they call themselves."

The Ortan looked levelly at him. "At what would you happen to know about these creatures?" he asked.

Ectheow shrugged. "Well, they’re certainly not orcs. It seems that there is something in their calls that stirs my memory, though."

Rorin grunted, and Ectheow began humming as Silvarin approached and began speaking with the Dwarf.

"When snow covers the ground in its wintry tumult, the shadow of Night darkens. All is bleak in the realms of Middle-Earth...."

OK with all this Silvarin history floating around, i think i will share a piece of Legoles’ History

Legoles looked around, he was trapped, about 10 orcs surrounded him. His older brother Legolas had told him not to come to this place, but yet, like all young elves, he had not listened, and now, he was stuck. He knew he would die, and he faced it unwillingly, as the orcs charged him, he ran, they pursued him and gained ground quickly. Soon, he became aware of the humps of arrows hitting trees near him. He ran faster, but became aware of the orcs growing steadily nearer and he was tiring. suddenly, his brother, Legolas, crashed through the trees on horseback, shooting at the orcs, when they were all dead, Legolas turned on Legoles and demanded to know why he had come here, Legoles knew he had to answer truthfully, he said "I was curious,"
"Curious? and your curiousness almost killed me," he said as he gestured to a gash on his tunic, "I will tell our father that you disobeyed me and then you will be punished, now, come with me."

Legoles, who had only been yelled at rarely if ever before, got his last 100 odd years of yelling at him that night, and was told to not leave the fortress after that, he despised his older brother for years, but eventually, was able to obtain a gesitant relationship with him, but when they both heard that the Ringwraiths were in the wilderness near rivendell, they had set out to find them and gain their father’s approvel, Legolas would wind up in rivendell while Legoles would follow the wraiths through the shire and finally stopped at the Prancing pony in bree, where he had met the others.

Legoles sighed, he was depressed, he had begun to work on a relationship with his brother, but right before they had left, they had had a fierce argument, and now he was sure that his brother also wanted the same thing he did, to forgive and try to heal the wounds that had been expounded iin the past years, he hoped that they would again become friends, but knew it wouldn’t be that easy, but he was willing to work for it.
