To help pass the time until BW comes back from falling off the planet , I wrote up another little section, just for fun.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well,” Rorin said as he walked over to Ryle, Adalard, and Dirthon, though he wasn’t talking to anyone in particular as much as he was thinking aloud. “All in all, this has been a very interesting afternoon.” He shook his head, a bewildered look on his face. “Elves are more curious folk than I ever gave them credit for until today, I can tell you that.”
The corner of Ryle’s mouth went up, despite his best efforts. He had seen some of the Dwarf’s recent counseling, and he knew that Rorin was actually a very good listener and advisor, though the Dwarf himself would be the last person to believe it. He tended to feel out of his element when someone came to him for guidance, as Ryle had many times in the past, and sometimes stumbled over his words and almost always left feeling quite awkward about the whole conversation. More often than not, however, he found the right thing to say, almost despite himself.
“Elves don’t usually like to show their feelings,” Dirthon said sagely.
“They don’t?” Rorin exclaimed. “Well, Master Dirthon, someone forgot to tell these lads that, then.”
“What do you mean?” Adalard asked.
“What do I mean? What do I...?” Rorin threw his hands up in exasperation, and practically collapsed on a large piece of driftwood. “Elves,” he mumbled under his breath.
“Oh come, friend,” Dirthon said, hunching in front of him. “They’re not all that bad.”
“I did not say they were ‘bad’, ranger,” Rorin said. “Just...just...” he waved his hand around, searching for the right word.
“Aggravating?” Ryle offered, over his shoulder.
“Aye!” Rorin said. “I mean, I wouldn’t say I want them to not be here. They have managed to help some thus far, and haven’t gotten themselves killed yet, but—”
“Why, Rorin!” Dirthon interrupted. “Was that a kind word about Elves I heard cross your lips?”
Rorin opened his mouth, thought better of it, then closed it, instead pointing a gloved finger at Dirthon. “Don’t make me get started on you rangers!” he threatened, but couldn’t conceal his smile.
Neither could Dirthon, slapping his newfound friend on the shoulder before straightening up. “And don’t make me get started on Dwarves,” he said lightheartedly, glancing at Rorin to let him know he was only joking, then fixed his gaze on Ryle, whose back had been turned to them the whole time. “What are you looking at?” he asked.
“Just searching for Aeglirnen,” the Ortan replied without turning.
Dirthon, confused, glanced at Rorin. “His bird,” the Dwarf explained.
“Ah,” the ranger nodded. “Has he flown off, then?”
“He caught a fish and flew into the trees,” Adalard added helpfully.
“I see. How long ago?” Dirthon inquired, walking up next to Ryle and noticing the slight worry lines on the younger man’s face.
“Longer than it should have taken for him to come back,” Ryle answered. “He doesn’t always come right back—he is perfectly independent—but it’s unusual for him not to return after a meal.”
“Trouble?” Ellar asked, walking up.
Rorin, not hearing Ryle’s concern, stood and answered, “The lad is just looking for his bird, is all. Are we leaving, then?”
Ellar nodded. “Very soon. Are we all ready?” |

Sorry about that, just having some computer problems in addition to having to do some stuff in rl... Anyway...
My event:
Light Movements
Event • Fellowship
Spot a Hobbit to remove for each Hobbit or ranger you can spot.
Their footsteps left no trace of direction.
"Well, the bird seems smart enough," Adalard said, leaning partly on his bag. "I say we go, if the others are ready."
’A valiant warrior!? A ranger uses those words to describe a Hobbit,’ Adalard smiled a bit, amused by the thoughts running through his head. ’Elves and Rangers getting advice on their personal problems from a Dwarf... This is turning into a story even Mr. Bilbo would doubt.’
As he thought to himself, looking over everything in his bag, making sure he was ready for whatever came up, he muttered softly. "To think, all this started at the Prancing Pony."
And as the group began to move, Adalard followed close behind, sword in hand. |
Our time here is ending...
What did you want to see before the end?
It will be made in the Request-a-card Set #1 (name ideas also welcome ). |

Curubethion led the way, following a path known only to the rangers. Dirthon quickened his pace to draw even with the master ranger, and then he spoke in low tones.
“Something has troubled me since the last attack of the Icewargs,” Dirthon said. “I feel that we are walking into even greater danger… something worse than those foul beasts,” the ranger said, as his memory flew back to the fight that had occurred when the four Icewargs attacked them.
Curubethion nodded. “Yes, Dirthon, the danger is growing; our path shall become no safer as the days pass.” |
I had to put something here. |

Ectheow shifted his axe uneasily as he watched the woods they passed through.
The rangers were all muttering amongst themselves about dangers they might face. The elves were all keeping together in their little clique. The hobbit was perfectly happy to be in awe of everyone in general, and the men of Dale and Rorin were practically forming their own psychiatric counselling ward, Rorin head psychiatrist, and the two men the attendants.
Which left him as the loner. The others were all right, in their own way -- especially the dwarf -- but he had learned to distance himself. After what happened with his master Hygleac....
Theoden King nodded his appreciation at the Master’s tale. Even Grima had seemed to enjoy it, Ectheow thought as he watched from the back of the room. Hygleac, the old blind minstrel, then stood and walked to the back of the room, and stood near Ectheow.
"Watch Grima," Hygleac instructed him. "Mark how he leans close to the King. He is a good advisor; or so he acts." The Master had an uncanny ability to ’see’ without sight. "He is faithful, for the time. But watch him. He is just the type to be corrupted by those who promise love."
Ectheow looked at his master. "What do you mean?"
Hygleac grinned, gazing sightlessly over the Golden Hall. "Watch him. It does not take sight to tell what -- whom -- he seeks. It is always the same; in the distant past long forgotten, in rmembered tales, and in these days. It all begins with a motive. A desire. Watch where men gaze, what they follow, perhaps with feet, but also eyes, ears... minds. Grima, Son of Galmod seeks Eowyn. Curunir seeks Power."
Ectheow looked doubtfully. "Curunir? Saruman? He has always been a great aid to us in trouble."
Hygleac nodded. "Yes. And he has set up a fortress; the only Wizard to do so. He has staked out lands. He uses his power to fight. Against our enemies for now. But he is ever mindful of Rohan. Why do you think he wishes to keep our nation intact? We have done nothing which would entice him for any reason to preserve us for our own sake. And he is a good friend of Grima. Grima has power. Saruman has the hearts of Rohan. Each has what the other wants. It is only a matter of time before they make a bargain....
Ectheow had not beleived him. Not until Hama had arrested the old man for the Valar knew what reason. Then the orcs began to come. Then the Dunlendings were being roused. And Theoden began to rely more and more on Grima. He had confronted Hama, and been exiled. So be it. At least Eomer was still in the King’s confidence. Maybe he could put a stop to that. He would have to. Ecthoew had thrown his lot elsewhere now.
But it always paid to observe what happened, and what people sought.
And if his observations of Master Cera... Caru... the ranger were any indication, the whole company was walking into much greater danger than any wanted to admit.... |
Never kid about politicians. The more bizarre the joke, the more likely it is to come true. |

Acutally, Legoles, the last couple writers have kind of moved us on a little already. I "talked" to CG yesterday, though, and he said we’re going to officially be moving to Site 6 very soon. He’s just been bumrushed by real life stuff recently. |

Well since everyone’s reminiscing, why not?
Duinhir sat down preparing to leave and thought back to the ranger he had roamed the wilds with. Strider, they called him, but his name was Aragorn, the son of Arathorn, rightful heir to the Throne of Gondor. That day at the Prancing Pony had been an eventful one.
"So Strider", asked Duinhir, "what do you think of these rumors of the Black Riders?"
"They are true. All of them. The nine are abroad again, on a mission from the Lord of the Black Land."
At that moment, a band of hobbits walked into the inn and asked for a room. Strider had shown immense interest in them.
"Do you know them?" asked Duinhir.
Strider did not respond, but sat gazing intently at the hobbits. Sensing that his friend wished to be left alone, Duinhir rose and moved towards the crowd.
The hobbits soon joined the crowd, and Duinhir took no notice of them. One of them appeared to be writing a book on hobbits outside of the shire, showing that they were from the shire.
"Odd," thought Duinhir to himself. "Hobbits from the shire do not come to Bree often."
Duinhir began to talk to another person in the room. He had always been criticized for being to outgoing. He continued this, until he noticed the hobbit that was writing the book climb upon a table and begin dancing. Mr. Underhill, he was sure was his name. Then, all of a sudden, Mr. Underhill slipped and fell, and as he hit the ground, he disappeared.
Shocked, Duinhir sprang back, and watched the crowd turn into a chaotic throng. The reappearance of Mr. Underhill near Strider did little to calm the situation. Duinhir turned his attention to the innkeeper, Barliman Butterbur, who was trying to calm the crowd. After many of the patrons had left, Duinhir turned to speak with Strider, and then noticed that Strider had also left, and none of the hobbits were there either.
In the morning, Duinhir that Strider had already left, and, being suspicious of this Mr. Underhill, tracked them to Weathertop. There he saw Strider set up camp, and all seemed normal, until a black shape began crawling up the side of the hill. Several others followed lead, and Duinhir sensed that these were the Black Riders he had asked Strider about. With the skill of a ranger, Duinhir nocked an arrow and fired at one of the shapes, but the arrow passed straight through it and fell to the ground behind the Black Rider. Duinhir realized that nothing he could do at this point could help, so as swiftly as possible, he departed for Rivendell. After a long journey as fast as he could travel, Duinhir alerted the elf-lords to the attack on Weathertop and began moving east…” |

Hey, mm! Good to see ya! Have a for old times’ sake. Send me a PM if you have time and let me know what you’ve been up to. We miss you around here.
Yeah, Ryle’s been a busy guy. I’ve tried to develop him into the serious and confident guy you seemed to want him to be, while still "hanging loose" with his buddies.
To catch up on all his stuff, probably the best place to look is here. Ryle’s cards are Ryle, Leader of the Ortans and Blade of Dale (which you made both of, if you remember), Aeglirnen, Eagle of Emyn Uial (a follower to work with the sword you designed), Ballad of Bard, Courage and Valor, Haunting Memories, and the event Inner Strength (which won CG’s top approval that round and netted Ryle a new ability: "Response: If you play an event during Ryle’s skirmish, you may exert him and add a threat to take that event into hand instead of discarding it.")
Fully loaded, Ryle is now a whopping 7 Strength, 6 Vitality, and 9 Resistance, with a couple sweet abilities. Not too shabby, eh?
Anyways, good to see you, once again. I look forward to the PM, if you have time. |

Should Ballad of Bard be on Ryle? Or was it for Ellar? |
