cool

it works.

To play, spot a Wraith minion.
At the start of the regroup phase, if you can spot a Wraith minion, you may spot the Ring-bearer with strength X and remove [X] to add a burden.

its worthless. 7 cost to discard a few cards? most of his cards should have been played before now. cut cost to 1-2

4 Leading the Host Wraith
Event • Regroup
Spot a Nazgûl and a Wraith Orc to play the fellowship’s next site. Play X Wraith Orcs (each at twilight cost –X) from your discard pile, where X is the shadow number of that site.

with that 4 cost site in T&D evil. I like evil Twisted Evil (thats probably gonna be quoted by tomorrow)

I know I said I’d like to move into the Raider culture (that’s to be read "Easterling Culture"), but I decided to let y’all choose instead.

So vote! And tomorrow some time I’ll get the winning decision up.

Garrison of Morgul now has 12 strength.

Hmm, SoP. I think you may be right about Piercing Heart and Mind. I want to keep the twilight cost high, but I’ll edit the effect a bit.

Elf lvr: I’m not focusing too much (if at all) on threats in this set, so Dismayed in Terror will have to stay more-or-less as it is. Thanks for the input, though!

Eh, I voted for the Easterlings. I was expecting them next anyway. Smile

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

give PhaM toil 2-3 and it works. I gues. it still seems underpowered. OK by regroup he should have played all his possessions. conditions. companions. Allies, followers and most of his events. it would be evil with Grima Wormtongue or chief counselor though Twisted Evil

I made one more edit to Piercing Heart and Mind which should make it a bit better (I removed the second cost of spotting a wounded companion).

The votes are in... here’s the first look at scounting rangers!

Once more, here’s the scouting keyword:
Scouting (While the only possessions borne by bearer are scouting possessions, Free Peoples cards borne by bearer may not be discarded by Shadow cards).

Also, remember that any companion bearing *only* scouting possessions is considered to be scouting himself (and can be targeted as a scouting companion).

3 •Faramir, Captain in the Glade Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength-6
Vitality-3
Resistance-8
Ring-bound. Ranger.
Each time you play another Gondor ranger, you may exert Faramir to make that ranger’s twilight cost -1.
For each scouting possession Faramir bears, he is strength +1.
“‘Not while Faramir is Captain. He leads now in all perilous ventures. But his life is charmed, or fate spares him for some other end.’”
R68

Loses 1 base strength, but has the potential to climb much higher. This Faramir also has the potential to help choke (and at the same time opens up new possibilities for a starting fellowship). He’s the core of a good scouting deck.

1 Doughty Men Gondor
Event • Skirmish
Make a scouting Gondor companion strength +1 for each other scouting Gondor companion you spot.
“…their faces were hooded and masked with green, except for their eyes, which were very keen and bright.”
C67

Working with each other is vital when in the lands of the enemy. This card is simple and effective.

1 Ithilien Scout Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength-5
Vitality-3
Resistance-6
Ranger.
While this companion is scouting, he may not be overwhelmed unless his strength is tripled.
“They marveled to see with what speed these green-clad men now moved, vanishing almost in the twinkling of an eye.”
C75

The grunt. He can be played for free with Faramir, Captain in the Glade and is pretty solid if built up with possessions correctly.

1 Ithilien Sword Gondor
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength +1
Scouting. Bearer must be a Gondor ranger.
You may exert a Gondor ranger to play this possession on that ranger any time you could play a maneuver or skirmish event. If you do, exert a minion.
A short blade for a quick bite.
U76

Here’s the first look at a scouting possession. Loses a bit in the strength area, but gains the ability to ambush an unsuspecting minion.

And speaking of ambushing...

0 The Road May Pass Gondor
Event • Maneuver
Spot 3 scouting Gondor companions to wound a minion. Then wound a minion for each other scouting Gondor companion you can spot.
“‘…but they shall not!’”
R80

If you can get set up, this card turns into 3 or 4 free wounds to go where you want them. I can’t think of better maneuver wounding, since this card requires only that you tank up your fellowship with scouting possessions.

More scouting dudes next time!

Pretty nifty. I especially like how you can turn any companion into a scouting one...that makes it really tick, and makes it viable with cards outside your set, too. GP for the idea.

I agree with SoP about the first ability: add a threat or something instead of exerting.

I think he’s too good for 1 at any time. Make him cost 2, and add text that reduces his cost by 1 if you can spot a scouting Gondor Man.

I think it could give +2 strength and still be okay.
