They Are Coming x2
Strategy:
The freeps is a standard solo smeagol. Pippin is Smeagol’s one turn friend, and from then on it’s a case of choking and beating up anything that does get played. Bid to go second, and also use follow smeagol and there’s another way so you can keep replaying the bridge of khazad-dum, or just ensuring you get underground sites for your Balrog. You also have plenty of Smeagol events to discard with Not ALone to keep bringing the Balrog back into hand.
The goblin runners add pool, and the moria scout can hopefully be free, and the backstabber is just a nice cheap orc to support the Balrog, but
they’re mainly there to ensure you always have plenty of orcs to reveal with power and terror.
Dark Places makes the Balrog even bigger, and relics of moria means you can keep pulling his sword back. They are coming gets orcs back, and helps you cycle and avoid the deck clogging.
I’ve tried to keep it small, so you definitley draw the key cards early.
With the Bridge of khazad-dum the Balrog is dropped to an eleven, so with a power and terror you should easily be able to afford him and his sword each turn, and probably without power and terror in region 3 (possibly 2).
With four dark places in, his sword, and when underground the Balrog is a 24 strength, damage+3 fierce minion, who has to fight their big guns, and they’ll have no way of stopping him before he reaches the skirmish.
Even the most powerful fellowship should have difficulty surviving a couple of those, and they most likely won’t be able to double. Once they’ve had their companions chopped up abit, finish them off with a swarm. |

so it is.
I assumed relics of moria was a weapon, not possession.
In that case, i’m going to cut relics for another balrog’s sword...sound like a good idea? |
