Dain: Good card. Powerful as it reduces strength and resistance and prevent the bearer from healing, but the high twilight cost when not at a marsh balances this. I really like how you tied in the midges with the marsh by reducing their cost at a marsh site. Very nice card. Very balanced in my humble opinion.

EL: Very powerful card. Reduces strength as well as radically lowering resistance. For the effects of this card the aid cost should probably have been bumped up to 3, or maybe even 4, I dunno. On top of the strength and resistance reduction is the exertion ability. This could really hurt characters like Eowyn, Lady of Ithilien and Gimli, Son of Gloin. If this had been the only ability, this card would have been balanced. The second ability is huge with Grima’s resistance reduction. As it is, Grima cuts the average companion’s resistance in half. A few burdens or resistance lowering conditions and Grima and easily kill any companion without having to do anything but discard himself. This ability is what unbalances the card for me. Good card, but slightly too powerful.

Both: Both followers were good, but the fact that you can transfer them to, I’m assuming, any companion makes these followers powerful just with their stat reducers. With the abilties, the cards are almost too good.

Vote: Because Dain’s card seems more balanced my vote will have to go with him.

Not much of an ’aid’, is it? Wink
I don’t much understand why it’s Wraith, but it doesn’t rightly belong in any culture (which doesn’t necessarily hurt you). Nice twilight reduction at the marsh.
I really can’t find a whole lot wrong with this one. Besides the difficulty it would be to find a picture... I think it’s odd that it cuts strength (maybe it makes the companion lose focus?), but in order to be used it’d have to have something like that.

Transfer this follwer to a companion instead of a minion. Each time bearer is assigned to skirmish, bearer must exert.
Skirmish: If bearer has resistance 0, discard Grima to place bearer in the dead pile.
"Such is the hour in which this wanderer chooses to return. Why indeed should we welcome you, Master Stormcrow? ’Láthspell’ I name you, Ill-news; and ill news is an ill guest they say."

I get a kick out of the subtitle (since Grima does have quite a few names for Mister Gandy). At first glance, I think this Grima is just too good. Strength pain, resistance pain, wounding pain, and then possibly death pain. Its only saving grace is that you can’t play any other Grima when he’s out, but in my opinion the Men Grimas aren’t all that great to bother with (I never do). I really like this card, but it needs a little less punishment (perhaps by dropping the resistance subtration to 1 or at the very, very most 2).

Both of these cards are simply awesome (indeed the closest matchup I’ve seen). But my vote has to go to Dain for a more balanced card.

Good job to both!

Ok so that definately means Dain advances, nice try EL i liked your card!

Right on with the next task. Slightly open ended and unusual:

Firstly I want a card that is NOT a companion or minion.

Second it has to be using the game mechanics we know of all known cultures and all the keywords that are in use.

Third it has to be from a deleted scene from any of the three films that was not in the cinema version of the film but only on the extended DVD. If you have any questions on this please PM me. I know what card im going to make already so dont worry.

Thats about it. So event, condition, possession, artifact, site, theyre all possibilites. Have fun.

Deadline is Monday.

Thanks

Can I make something that is in the extended part and also is in the non-extended part, for example, Shadowfax?

No.

Okay, so I really don’t have any authority on this. I just felt like saying no. Cool

As it happens menace youre correct. No sorry LH thats the point. It has to be purely in the Extended i.e. not seen at the cinema you had to buy the extended DVD.

e.g.

2 Enemy Amongst Enemy Gandalf
Condition * Support Area
If you can spot Saruman and Grima discard them both.
Lore "stabbity stab"

This is from the deleted scene where Gandalf is talking to Saruman on top of Orthanc and Grima stabs saruman then legolas shoots grima.

I know its pap but its an example!
