Each time Tom Bombadil takes off The One Ring, exert him.
Each time the fellowship moves, wound Tom Bombadil three times.
Fellowship: Exert Goldberry twice to heal Tom Bombadil and draw a card.

Very nice twist on the RB idea...but here’s a little thing. Goldberry, River-Daughter can still heal Tommy, with a lot of river sites. That’s now equivalent to removing a burden. Granted, you’re "adding three burdens" every time he moves, so I guess it balances...
Intimidate would combo nicely with this. |

yeah, i see your point, but i think that it is balanced due to all the available ally hate, in addition to the three wounds. perhaps it should be exert Goldberry three times, in stead of 2. what do you all think of that? |

Actually, there’s a number of good ways to play this...
River-sites: Falls of Rauros, Imladris, North Undeep, Fords of Isen, Shores of Nen Hithoel, Anduin River, Anduin Banks plus 2 other sites, with Goldberry, River-daughter
Elven-teams: Arwen, Elven Rider (who will need card drawing), Elrond, Elven Lord (once an artifact playable on a companion (or companion) or the Ring-bearer), Gift of the Evenstar, Blessed Light (Provides cards), Hadafang for condition protection, Asfaloth, Elven Steed to help Arwen win skirmishes, The World Ahead (mostly for region three, but also region two), Lembas (reconcile and have the option to move again, or else cycle better)
Shire-side: Sam, Frodo’s Gardener + Sam’s Pack, throw in Hobbiton Brewer if you’ll want to double-move, The Gaffer, Master Gardener (throw in dwellings for extra sites or Valley of the Silverlode), Faith in Friendship with reinforcement
Site control: Ranger of Westernesse to replace sites as you move, just to play them again for your opponent, Seeing Stone of Minas Anor (for when you run out of cards), Seeing Stone of Orthanc to add to your hand.
Gandalf: Gandalf, The Grey Pilgrim (get cards for Arwen), Gandalf’s Staff, Ash Staff (to cycle), Shadowfax, Unequaled Steed (keep Gandalf alive), Glamdring, Orc Beater (discard companions to free move), Alatar, Final Envoy (for the weaken effect mostly), Salve (prevent a wound), Intimidate (obvious), Strength of Spirit (if you plan on wearing The One Ring)
The One Ring: The Ruling Ring is alright, but you don’t plan to be using it much. Ring of Rings could work, but hopefully, you won’t need it. The One Ring, The Ring of Doom could be used in a hunter deck... Answer To All Riddles could work well, allowing you to move multiple times.
Actually, a Tom Bombadil RB in a hunter deck could be interesting to see... |

Assuming you move to a river site, then use it as often as possible, you’ll be breaking even...
Personally, I think 2 exertions would be fine, between Ally Hate and a lack of ally support... |

i know this is a major bump, but there are new people on the forums, and i’d love to get more reviews on this if i could. and i’d love to see some other people’s versions of a bombodil ring bearer.
i’d also like to see a deck build around this bombodil, and already existing cards. i’m going to try, and would love to see what ya’ll come up with. 2gp to any decks worth their salt.

I actually completely object to Tom Bombadil being a companion, let alone a ring-bearer, but I can’t really think of any better way of doing it than your way. And from an utter purist like me, I think that’s definitely a good compliment!

Hang on, I’ve had a thought. I’d love something on Tom that represents how far away he is from his home. Could he be wounded X times where X is the current region number, and maybe make some of his other stuff worse?

how about adding: each time the fellowship moves to a region 3 site, exert tom bombadil. |

I think that would add too much text to him, and I’d still like an escalation or a process rather than a sudden jump.
