Per Kendrick Summers, current Lord of the Rings Brand manager/rules expert:

•Grond, Forged with Black Steel [18R72]

Each time the fellowship moves in the regroup phase, you may discard this possession to search the Free Peoples player’s draw deck and remove up to 2 Free Peoples cards from the game.

CRD Update - 7/19/07

Change to read -

Each time the fellowship moves in the regroup phase, you may discard this possession. If you do, you may search the Free Peoples player’s draw deck to choose up to 2 Free Peoples cards from there. Then remove those cards from the game.

Hope that clarifies the potentially abuseable text. Please assume that this addition to the CRD will be included in the next version.
