OK after AE was released I was immediately interested in using Aragorn, Well-travelled guide with Frodo, Weary From the journey.

Anyone have an idea on how to build this kind of deck?

Thanks for your help,

- CBB

The article that Ingold wrote looks cool.

But I’m looking more at a pipeweed build. With just aragorn and Frodo!

Is that a feasible idea?

Sure. I’d recommend, in that case, using Aragorn’s Pipe and Frodo’s Pipe, and a version of Frodo that has his own signet: probably Resolute Hobbit.

With the pipes, you have MASS healing potential when you need it. Thumbs Up

EDIT: Unfortunately, the only pipeweeds you could really make use of are the original two (Longbottom Leaf and Old Toby) and Long-stemmed Pipe, since all the others rely on spotting either unbound Hobbits or Gandalf. Ship of Smoke would at least give you a 0-cost pipeweed to discard with the pipes or Long-stemmed Pipe’s text, though.

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

Yeah, I guess this would be a more "defensive" strategy. So, anything like archery wouldn’t work.

So, I could add in Sapling of the white tree to prevent more wounds, No stranger and Bill the pony to choke a bit more, and O gilthoniel and flaming brand to pump frodo and Gorn.

Simple.

Other options I hadn’t considered: Bilbo’s Pipe or The Gaffer’s Pipe could be used by Frodo instead. The former would enable you to recycle tales, and the latter would be very helpful for additional choking. MIGHT be better to use one of them instead of Frodo’s Pipe, since Aragorn’s Pipe (especially comboed with Saplings) should be all the healing you would need.

If you use pipes, how can you choke? Is there some way to get rid of twilight?

the gaffer’s pipe actually is a choke card (i think)

Each of those pipes only costs 1. Granted, the pipeweeds cost 1 each as well, but done right, it shouldn’t be anything Aragorn can’t handle, especially with all the healing you’d have.

And yes, The Gaffer’s Pipe (discard a pipeweed possession and spot X pipes to remove (X)) could help choke. Basically, if you spent 1 for a pipeweed, then discarded it with The Gaffer’s Pipe (and had Aragorn’s Pipe out), you’d then remove 2. So you spent 1 for the pipeweed, and end up removing 1 by the time all is said and done. That would add up after a while.
