 Beat Into Dust
Event – Skirmish
Remove a threat to make a minion with damage +X strength +X. (Limit +4)
“His banner… they trod into the mire of his blood.”
Nice but a bit costly. Depending on how easy it is for you to add threats id make it cost .
 Dark Fire
Condition
Strength -2
To play, spot a Balrog and remove a threat.
Bearer must be a companion (except the hero), limit 1 per bearer.
Each time the company moves, bearer must exert.
Shadow… and Flame.
Not a reprint but a good new version of it. Nice. Screams for unique as 4 of these on a fellowship is just plain wrong.
 Trod Into The Mire
Condition – Support Area
To play, spot 2 Balrogs.
When you play this condition, you may place a token here.
At the start of each regroup phase, if a companion was killed this turn, you may remove 2 tokens from here to add a burden.
Shadow: Remove a threat to reinforce a token here.
“…They beat him into the dust….”
Nice, but only if balrogs need burdens and you can reinforce tokens. Are they part of their schemes?
 *White Flame
Condition – Support Area
Strength +1
Vitality +1
Resistance +1
Each time bearer wins a skirmish, he or she must exert.
Each time bearer loses a skirmish, add a burden.
Response: If a Balrog wins a skirmish, transfer this condition from your support area to a companion that Balrog was skirmishing.
“…A white flame sprang up from the helm of Fingolfin as it was cloven.”
Oof mental card with lots of power and potential. Not sure what to make of it but ill say its bold! Seeing as its unique its quite cool.

Thanks everyone; changes made. Is Dark Fire still too powerful, or is it good now?
Alrighty, here we have the new keyword: Guard [Culture] X.
What this means is "While you can spot a/another [Culture] minion, this minion is strength +X."
The "a/another" is because there could be cards which are Guard (While you can spot A minion...) or Guard (While you can spot ANOTHER minion.)
Quick example:
An minion which is Guard 2 is strength +2 while another minion is out. Kill that other minion, and the guard loses the strength bonus.
There can also be FP guard against Shadow (ie, companion with Guard ) or Shadow Guard against FP (ie, minion with Guard )
Okay, so here are three more cards, all Balrog-related, still, but also starting to bump into some other stuff. Like Glaurung....
* Boast Made Vain
Condition – Maneuver
To play, Spot Glaurung or exert two Balrogs.
When you play this condition, the Free Peoples player may discard the top two cards of his or her draw deck to discard it.
Each Free Peoples maneuver action gains the cost “Add a burden or a threat.”
Discard this condition at the end of the turn.
“‘Then you are fools….’”
Troll-Guard of Gothmog

Strength 12

While you can spot a Balrog, this minion is strength +2.
Only the Troll-Guards of the Balrog Lord could stand against Hurin.
Troll Guardian

While you can spot a Balrog, this minion is damage +1.

Awesome idea but discarding one card is too easy, make it 2 even though i hate discard cards it needs making better. Is "passing" a maneuver action??

Nice, not sure if he shouldnt cost 7 though even with his text.

This should definately cost less, 7 for sure even with toil as its only 1.

The "a/another" is because there could be cards which are Guard (While you can spot A minion...) or Guard (While you can spot ANOTHER minion.)
That is unnecessary. Simply change the keyword definition to ’another’, and it would work in all situations. It’s interesting, reminds me a lot of soem mechanics in MTG.
Just a couple of thoughts: why don’t you do ’guard’ for races as well? And you could have something like ’Guard Damage +1’.

The get out clause is too easy for a card with such a high cost. Hilariously funny. Does the added cost stack? If so, it’s too good and I’d make it a unique condition that discards in the regroup phase.

I agree with Lem0n. Alternativley, you could up both vitalities to 4.

Wow. Been a long time.
I’m back temporarily, but I leave again pretty soon, and I don’t think I’ll have any chances to update this while I’m in England, soooo.....
Anyhow, here’s another group. I haven’t looked at all at AP’s NiHH set, so I don’t know if any of my stuff is ridiculously similar to his or not....
...I doubt mine are as good. Oh well.
Anyhow, here’s some more :
Deep Dungeons
Condition – Support Area
To play, spot a minion.
While there are no more than two cards stacked here, each time your Guard wins a skirmish, you may remove to stack that minion here.
Shadow: Remove a threat to play a minion from here as if from hand. Then discard this condition or remove .
Troll’s Warspear
Possession – Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Bearer must be a Troll.
When you play this possession, you may remove a threat to add .
The spear wielded by a troll is seldom hampered by mere metal armor.
Twisted Creatures
Event – Skirmish
Choose one: Make a minion gain Guard 2 or make an minion gain Guard 2.
The armies of Morgoth were filled with trolls and orcs, and other twisted creatures.[/i] |

Assuming you don’t have any FP cards, you can probably drop "minion" after the "Guard". Otherwise, pretty nifty.

"Troll" should be capitalized, but I like this weapon. Helps alleviate the Troll’s cost a little, which is always a good thing.

Awesome! I love cards that make the old cultures work with the new. Good stuff.
Yeah, don’t worry about the shadow of AP or anyone else. You’re doing just fine. |
