but they all have other game texts. i think cobra is right with the damage+1 or fierce. he just needs something more. (or some twilight cost less) |

I can’t even pretend to take argument against you fellas with this one, but consider one card:
Weapon of Opportunity.
Yeah yeah, wrong culture... but the payoff on that card has potential for this new Orc if it carries over into . Think about a card that targets high-twilight cost minions only (say, making them damage +1 and such). Suddenly he wouldn’t be *quite* so never-playable. |

But since his ability adds to his strength, I’m fairly sure that you could only play the WargNOLINK on him if you didn’t have 3/4 conditions (depending on which WargNOLINK you play) in the discard pile. |

NBarden, first you argue that this minion is good because he can have high strength. In practice, I think he really won’t, unless you plan on sacrificing a huge chunk of your deck just to pump him up. If you want a high-strength Orc for twilight, play that Hill Orc you mentioned earlier.
Then you argue that he’s good because his strength is low enough to ride a Warg. Even without Rise of Saruman fully spoiled, the Warg deck has at least half a dozen different minions with crazy cool abilities, and many more that are strictly better (in terms of twilight cost vs. stats) than an Orkish Marauder with a strength cap of 9 or 10.
Note that you can’t have it both ways... If you’ve discarded enough conditions to give the Marauder good strength for his cost, you can no longer play any known Wargs on him.
Menace64, you raise a valid point in favor of playing -cost minions. (Try Orc Spear!) But that argument has very little to do with Orkish Marauder in particular. If you want a 4-cost minion, play a good one! |

Hm, now there’s an interesting idea. Off the top of my head I’m not sure how you’d make the skirmish-phase discarding work (Always Threatening with lurker support, maybe?), but it doesn’t need to be during the skirmish phase specifically. Shadow-phase discarding would work too, as long as you played your Wargs first, which opens up more possibilities.
Of course, I still don’t think the Orkish Marauder will end up being playable. He has to fight so hard just to get on a level with your other Orcs! But even so, this little trick might be worth investigating... |
