Corvus read up on cancel from the latest CRD:
Quote: cancel
When an action (such as playing an event or using a special ability) is canceled or prevented, its effects are ignored but its costs and requirements are still paid. If that action is playing an event, that event card is discarded.
See cost, effect. Thus the effects have to happen before it can be canceled.
Final Strike wrote: Response: If the Free Peoples player uses a maneuver or archery special ability, exert Gollum to cancel its effect. Italics mine.
Thus the effect must happen and once the effect happens from Perspective, it completely shuts down all special abilities from shadow cards in play until the regroup phase (including responses). You can’t cancel something before it happens. |

Huh? Where in what you quoted does that derive from?
We have a Merry skirmishing an uruk. We play swiftly and softly. The shadow player plays Wariness. With that logic, the effect takes place before it can be canceled, and the skirmish does get canceled. Or does it get re-assigned a little later? |

As I think of it (which may be confusing), is that you play swiftly and softly. I play wariness to ’cancel’ the event. This turns the effect back to before it took place (and makes the whole effect impossible) but the rest not.
Unfortunately, Perspective prevents any special actions, which makes them impossible to be used before they are used. |
Our time here is ending...
What did you want to see before the end?
It will be made in the Request-a-card Set #1 (name ideas also welcome ). |

Don’t get our hopes up. D isn’t that cunning. At least, not anymore.
I have two theories about these cards:
1. D has taken a dozen or so cards and given them absurd text, which is not hard to do in two seconds flat.
2. D knows the license will not be renewed and is creating an overpowered (and maybe underprinted) set as a grand finale. |

One of those has to be right Yerka. If they know they wont get the liscense renewed this explains the "getting shot of" theme to T&D, but if they think they will get the new liscence... What the heck? Theyre just making stupidly good cards like you say which wouldnt take long. |

No SoP keywords are not affected. Just anything that has a phase or bold text like Response: Archery: Skirmish: etc... |

Don’t forget Maneuver: if it is the first action in the maneuver phase that the free people’s player performs. It also doesn’t prevent events which is key. Special abilities are only on cards that are "in play". |
