Turin turumbar. i only read a little of the silmarillion, i know he is in unfinished tales. "Narn I Hin Hurin", the tale of the children of Hurin.

but yeah, most likely he was in the silmarilion.

Are you going to vote? I know I’m not in the contest, but this contest really seems neat, so I was hoping to vote.

ok, we might as well get the voting started, so here we go.

BattleWarg

1 •Gurthang, Lordless Blade Gandalf
Artifact • Hand Weapon
+3 Strength
Bearer must be Túrin. He is damage +1.
At the start of each skirmish involving Túrin, add a threat.
Response: If another Free Peoples character is about to be killed, remove all threats. Place Túrin into the dead pile.
‘”Yea, I will drink thy blood gladly, that so I may forget the blood of Beleg my master, and the blood of Brandir slain unjustly. I will slay thee swiftly.”’

The hard part was determining culture – I honestly considered Raider, but trying to go with a more ‘standard’ Free Peoples that Turin would probably be in. I went with Gandalf because it seems to be the culture for the ‘ancient’ people and objects.
Thinking about it, Gurthang would probably be to Anglachel as Anduril is to Narsil. So I went with Anduril-like combat bonuses. But, Gurthang seemed to bring misfortune with it (although it varied as to what it was), which I felt the threats was a good representation of. You get the skirmish abilities for relatively cheap, but add a threat whenever he starts to fight.
The response ability is based off his last moments with the blade. After killing two friends, and indirectly his sister, Túrin decides to kill himself with Gurthang to stop the curse from spreading further and killing more people. This way, the player is able to make Túrin realize the problem when someone is about to be killed, and removes the threats for the cost of an additional death.

Ideally, this would be the same culture as Túrin, and the response ability would trigger off a character of that culture being killed, but without a Túrin to base it off of, this was the best solution I could come up with.

Shield Elf

3 • Gurthang, Wand of Death Gondor
Possesion - Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Vitality +1

Skirmish: Exert Turin to make a minion skirmishing Turin exert twice (limit once per phase).

SoP

2 Gurthang, Iron of Death Elven

Bearer must be an Elf. Bearer is damage +1 If bearer is Turin, he gains Intimidation. (During skirmishes involving this character, the opponent may not use skirmish special abilities.)

Resistance: +1
Bearer must Turin. He is damage +1.
Skirmish: Remove from the game 2 minions with strength 8 or less from your discard pile to wound a minion Turin is skirmishing, or to make a minion turin is skirmishing strength -1.
"And though ever black its edges shone with pale fire; and he named it Gurthang, Iron of Death."
----------------------------------------------------

Dain

3Gurthang, Reforged of the Flaming Star Gondor
Artifact • Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Vitality +1
Resistance -2
Bearer must be a unique Gondor or Elven companion.
If bearer is Túrin or Beleg, he is damage +1.
While bearer is at a battleground, forest, or underground site, each minion skirmishing bearer is strength -1.
“‘Hail Gurthang! No lord or loyalty dost thou know, save the hand that wieldeth thee. From no blood wilt thou shrink.’”
-----------------------------------------------------

macheteman

2 •Gurthang, The Blacksword Elven
Possession • Hand-Weapon
Strength: +2
Bearer must be Turin.
Each time Turin wins a skirmish, discard each minion he was skirmishing.
It was said, that nothing which Gurthang had bitten could live.

anyone can vote, don’t vote for yourself, and vote for your 3 favorite.
