Okay, I have decided to turn the text of the Ambusher into a unique companion (with a made-up but familiar name to some Wink), and create a different, weaker non-unique companion to work with Gondor stealth as well. Rather than editing the last posting, I’m just going to (re-)post them here. I’ve ALSO made a few more stealth cards which I’ll go ahead and include now as well. Enjoy! Smile

3Dirthon, Ithilien Ambusher Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Ring-bound. Ranger. Hunter 2.
Each time a Gondor stealth card is played, you may choose one: make a minion site number +2 until the regroup phase; exert a roaming minion; or make Dirthon strength +1 until the regroup phase.
“‘’Twill be nigh at hand. In the fern, no doubt. We shall have it like a coney in a trap.’”

2 Pursuing Ranger Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength: 5
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Ring-bound. Ranger. Hunter 1.
Each time you play a Gondor stealth card, you may add 2 to heal this companion. Limit once per phase.
Each time the fellowship moves, if this companion bears a Gondor condition or Gondor cloak, you may remove 1.
“‘Our men after them, and the Captain leading.’”

1 What Have We Found? Gondor
Event • Maneuver
Stealth.
Spot a Ring-bound ranger to make a roaming minion strength -2 and lose all ambush bonuses until the regroup phase.
“‘But there are no travellers in this land: only the servants of the Dark Tower, or of the White.’”

And a couple cards inspired by already-existing cards:

0 Into Shadows Gondor
Condition
Stealth. Bearer must be a Gondor ranger.
Each time the fellowship moves to a forest or underground site, if bearer is unwounded, remove 1.
“Close by, just under the dappling shadow of the dark bay-trees, two men remained on guard....”

Anyone who likes rangers shoild be able to guess what inspired this one. Rolling Eyes

0Dúnedain of the South Gondor
Condition
Bearer must be a Gondor hunter.
Maneuver: If you can spot a roaming minion, you may exert bearer to make him or her damage +1 until the regroup phase.
Regroup: Discard this condition to heal a companion.
“...he looked at them with wonder, for he knew then that they must be...men of the line of the Lords of Westernesse.”

This is a companion card of sorts to Ranger of the North. I know it has nothing to do with stealth, but hey, I figured it couldn’t hurt to post it now. Besides, it works great with the new Pursuing Ranger.

Heheh smooth DI, nice one. Drop to hunter 1, i think he’s already awesome with his gametext.

2 Pursuing Ranger Gondor

Ring-bound. Ranger.

Could be hard to wound this guy to death as adding 2 is a small downside to healing him, though he’s likely to get overwhelmed anyway cos he’s puny. So balanced i guess.

Event • Maneuver
Stealth.
Spot a Ring-bound Man to make a roaming minion strength -2 and lose all ambush bonuses until the regroup phase.
“‘But there are no travellers in this land: only the servants of the Dark Tower, or of the White.’”

Cool.

1 Into Shadows Gondor
Condition
Stealth. Bearer must be a Gondor ranger.
Each time the fellowship moves to a forest or underground site, if bearer is unwounded, remove 1.
“Before long they had all passed and vanished.”

Cool. Was gonna say make it 0 but its non unique so ok.

0Ranger of the South Gondor
Condition
Bearer must be a Gondor hunter.
Maneuver: If you can spot a roaming minion, you may exert bearer to make him or her damage +1 until the regroup phase.
Regroup: Discard this condition to heal a companion.
“...he looked at them with wonder, for he knew then that they must be Dúnedain of the South, men of the line of the Lords of Westernesse.”

Interesting. I like. Maybe add exert bearer or discard this condition?

Whoops...I meant to add hunter 1 to the Pursuing Ranger (since otherwise, he can’t use Ranger of the South, which I intended for him to be able to bear). Does that change your opinion of him?

Slighlty. Well with enough stealth events which presumably would be the focus of that particular deck, it would be near impossible to wound him to death. If the shadow manages to exhaust you, next turn play a few maneuver or skirmish stealth and for a poxy 4 hes fully healed. If it was only in the fellowship phase it would be different, but this is any stealth card so probably wouldnt add 4 before the shadow where its most use.

Hmm still im not sure how else you would do it. Maybe limit it to a phase or once a turn?

What if I did "(except during the fellowship phase)"? That would eliminate the stealth conditions, at least, and limit it to events.

No it would be better in the fellowship phase, not so abuseable. Pool is more useful to the shadow in the shadow not skirmish. Maybe just say once per turn or once per phase.

But hey its picky, he would probably be alright as he is, you cant perfectly balance every card and often us reviewers can be forcing too many changes with our opinions. Razz Theyre your cards, must keep reminding myself that!

I’ll wait and see what others suggest then, but I’m inclined to limit it to once per phase. That would be okay, I think, since it would then take some serious micromanaging and good card draws to really make it powerful...and if you’re using that much effort on a maximum-6-strength non-unique companion, you’re probably setting yourself up to have your butt kicked some other way! Nice, however, a choke like that can get really broken really quick. I’d switch it for something else.

1 What Have We Found? Gondor
Event • Maneuver
Stealth.
Spot a Ring-bound Man to make a roaming minion strength -2 and lose all ambush bonuses until the regroup phase.
“‘But there are no travellers in this land: only the servants of the Dark Tower, or of the White.’”

Nice. Why not make ambush work for fellowship, only that when assigned, twilight gets removed? Just an idea.

And a couple cards inspired by already-existing cards:

Stealth. Bearer must be a Gondor ranger.
Each time the fellowship moves to a forest or underground site, if bearer is unwounded, remove 1.

No Stranger to Shadows? Only more balanced. I’d make it 0.

0Ranger of the South Gondor
Condition
Bearer must be a Gondor hunter.

Regroup: Discard this condition to heal a companion.
“...he looked at them with wonder, for he knew then that they must be Dúnedain of the South, men of the line of the Lords of Westernesse.”

Um...I think the title is taken already, correct me if I’m wrong. Interesting, I think I like it. The first ability should be an automatic, IMO, like, while you can spot a roaming minion, bearer is damage +1. Otherwise, I wouldn’t use it. Especially as a maneuver ability, at the very least make it skirmish.

This is a companion card of sorts to Ranger of the North. I know it has nothing to do with stealth, but hey, I figured it couldn’t hurt to post it now. Besides, it works great with the new Pursuing Ranger.

Definitely hunter 1, but solid.

Too much text! How about you just take out the adding 2 and remove the second minor ability? I think that would be fine.

Nice, but I’d prefer ’Ring-bound ranger’ so it’s harder to splash.

This is certainly a companion I think in T&D, but never mind. I like it though!
