I would lower the cost of Gleamed Like Gold to 0. Thumbs Up
I had to put something here.

Choose one: Discard a possession borne by a Dwarf to play a possession of the same class from your hand on that Dwarf; or discard X possessions (except weapons) borne by a Dwarf to make that Dwarf strength +2 for each possession discarded.
“Hood and cloak were gone; they were in shining armour, and red light leapt from their eyes.”

Uh, look good, except for one thing. I don’t know how many of your possessions have stuff like "This possession may be borne in addition to X other [possession class]," but Gleamed Like Gold would be limited by that, since unless otherwise indicated, there can only be one possession/artifact of each class on a character. I don’t know if that would be a problem or not (and maybe someone already mentioned it back there in all that, but...)

Tweaked it so that you can now play a possession from your hand OR discard pile.

Oh... wait... I just looked at it again...
I thought it was "spot a possession" to play a possession of the same class, not "discard a possession."

Dumb mistake. Embarassed

Well, I was waiting for SoP’s regular afternoon review to gauge whether the last Duo was finally okay or not, but he’s running late. Razz So I’ll just say this: as far as I am concerned, the last Duo is FINALLY okay. BUT, if you disagree and want to recommend more changes, my ears are open.

In the meantime, I have to get another Duo up. I have a reputation to keep up here, after all. Cool

Dáin’s DC Duos #212

Surprise, surprise: it’s more Dwarven events. Hopefully these won’t require all the rewrites that last pair did. Very Happy Enjoy!

1 A Desperate Venture Dwarven
Event • Skirmish
Toil 1.
Make a Dwarf skirmishing a unique minion strength +1 (limit +5) for each Dwarven tale you can spot.
“...they all began discussing dragon-slayings historical, dubious, and mythical, and the various sorts of stabs and jabs and undercuts, and the different arts, devices and stratagems by which they had been accomplished.”

Getting the feeling I’m a fan of these "choose between 1 or an exertion" events? Mr. Green

There’s several Dwarven tales in this set alone, and more to come in my future sets, so this could be huge.

3 Old Burning Grudge Dwarven
Event • Maneuver
Toil 1.
Until the regroup phase, make a Dwarf (except the Ring-bearer) resistance +1 (limit +4) or strength +1 (limit +4) for each Dwarven card over 4 you can spot in the discard and dead piles.
“The embers in the heart of Thorin grew hot again, as he brooded on the wrongs of his House and of the vengeance upon the Dragon that was bequeathed to him. He thought of weapons and armies and alliances, as his great hammer rang in the forge....”

Not much to say here, I guess. It’s a skirmish event without being a skirmish event, which is something a little unusual for the Dwarves. And it gives the option of resistance, which is something they could always use a little more of, right?

Yeah, I’d say cap it at 6. Looks good, though.

Interesting. I assume that you get to choose which you apply the bonus to for each card? (ie, seven Dwarven cards in discard pile, could choose to be +2 strength, +1 resistance, as opposed to only choosing either +3 str or +3 res)

I’d cap this one, too, maybe at +6, +6. That way, you can go up to 12 Dwarven cards, but only 6 on each.

There’s several Dwarven tales in this set alone, and more to come in my future sets. With no cap, this could be monstrously huge. Think I SHOULD cap it at some point, like +5 or +6 or something?

Okay, I reduced the cap of A Desperate Venture to +5, and changed Old Burning Grudge to 4 with some toil thrown in. Better now?

Cool! Maybe lower the limit to 4, but get someone else’s opinion first.

Once the game’s underway, it’s a strength +6 event almost all the time! And it works in fierce, too! The high resistance boost works, though you might need to exclude the Ring-bearer, but the strength limit needs toned down.

Consider it "toned". Very Happy I lowered both to +4, and lowered the cost back to 3. Better?
