Finishing the culture up a little early today.
•Saruman’s Ring
Artifact • Ring
Vitality: +1
Bearer must be Saruman.
The twilight cost of each spell is -1.
Response: If the Free Peoples player reconciles, return Saruman to owner’s hand.
"...he wore a ring on his finger."
----
Storm of Orthanc
Condition
Strength: -2
Spell. Weather. Bearer must be an unbound companion. Limit one per bearer.
Each time an spell is played during a skirmish involving bearer, each Wizard involved in that skirmish is strength +1 until the regroup phase.
"’It’s Saruman!’"
----
Bring Down the Mountain
Event • Response
Weather.
If a companion bearing an condition loses a skirmish involving an Wizard, discard an spell from hand to exert that companion. Then, if the fellowship is at a mountain site, you may draw a card.
"’There is a fell voice on the air!’"
----
Wizard Blast
Event • Skirmish
Spell.
Exert an Wizard twice to exert a companion he is skirmishing (or wound that companion if that Wizard bears a staff). |

Wow. I’m the first to get to your cards, for once!

I made a ring very similar to this for him. So, needless to say, it’s excellent!

I think it should be "during a skirmish", not "in a skirmish". Otherwise very cool.

TWO weather cards. Cool! This one is good, too. Mind if I borrow the idea for my LotR set?

I think it might be better to do exertions than wounds. |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

Yikes! I like it, though. Could use a better title. It sounds like a D&D spell or something. |

Yet another culture finished! Though small, the elderly culture brings with it a powerful punch that can’t be ignored. Playing a solo Saruman deck becomes more dangerous than ever with the new Saruman, Ring-maker, who gains strength through artifacts and even allows you to play them! With the right amount of cards (specifically Throne of Isengard and the new Saruman’s Staff, Sorceror’s Rod), Saruman can become as powerful as Sauron himself!
I give you the culture:
•Saruman, Ring-maker
Minion • Wizard
Strength: 8
Vitality: 4
Site: 4
Muster. Fierce. Lurker.
Saruman is strength +1 for each artifact you can spot.
Shadow: Exert Saruman twice to play an artifact from your draw deck.
"’Why should we fear to use it?’"
----
•Saruman’s Ring
Artifact • Ring
Vitality: +1
Bearer must be Saruman.
The twilight cost of each spell is -1.
Response: If the Free Peoples player reconciles, return Saruman to owner’s hand.
"...he wore a ring on his finger."
----
•Saruman’s Staff, Sorceror’s Rod
Artifact • Staff
Strength: +2
Bearer must be Saruman.
While you can spot no other minions, Saruman is enduring.
Each time an spell is played during a skirmish involving Saruman, you may make a companion skirmishing him strength -1 until the regroup phase.
"’...but you have elected the way of pain!’"
----
Storm of Orthanc
Condition

I would raise the cost to or drop the vitality bonus.

I would add a spotting requirement, such as "To play, spot Saruman" or "To play, spot Saruman and exert an minion."

Thanks for the reviews, Anonymous! I made some of the suggested changes. For those of you who have asked, the title Wizard Blast was taken from the real-time strategy game The Battle for Middle-Earth. It is a power that both Saruman and Gandalf could use, and I figured that this would best represent Saruman launching Gandalf across Orthanc’s throne room.
Today begins a new culture, this time venturing onto the Free People’s side of the game. To counteract , we have ! This culture will work well with Hobbits as well as having high resistance. A Free Peoples version of Saruman is introduced (as Curunír); he will work in the same way as Gollum and Sméagol.
And since I did promise to make this a community driven set, I’m going to do things a little differently. When you review my cards, post any 3 cards you’d like to see spoiled next. The ones with the highest votes will, of course, be used the next day (or that same day, depending on when the reviewing is done). Be sure to vote!
•Gandalf, Friend of Old
Companion • Wizard
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 7
Muster.
Skirmish: Exert Gandalf to make him strength +1 for each Hobbit you can spot (limit +4).
"’All your long years, we’ve been friends.’"
----
•Love of the Halfling’s Leaf
Condition
Resistance: +1
To play, spot a Hobbit. Bearer must be Gandalf.
Fellowship: Exert Gandalf (or spot Gandalf and discard a pipeweed) to heal a Hobbit. Any Shadow player may remove a burden to prevent this.
----
Encouraging Thought
Event • Skirmish
Exert Gandalf to make a Hobbit strength +3. If that Hobbit wins this skirmish, you may heal Gandalf. |
